@psu61  I’m not sold on Danton Lynn his defense just ain’t been good. He may have had USC defense from 105th to 55th but they still stunk and they ain’t good now. He’s a Paterno guy and y’all know how I feel about the goats players but Penn St football comes first. 2 bad QB’s the last 2 weeks and both destroyed our defense. Smh

What we are all witnessing is what Iowa State would look like/play if they were in the BIG 10 and Campbell was their coach!

And another thing.  I have always said, why don't they have a person listening to the TV commentators during the game and then report what they are hearing to the coaches. I don't know much about play calling, but they were confused as to why Lynn didn't have 8 guys up on the line and force NW to pass more.  I heard them saying that in the first quarter.

And how in the heck are we still favored to win every game the rest of this year outside of Michigan?  The only game I see us as a "sure win" is MAYBE  Rutgers.  The rest of the games are very questionable!

GO STATE!

@mtnittanylion  it’s nice hearing from you buddy. We’re all a little frustrated right now but these problems go back on James Franklin because if our defense is this bad that means we weren’t recruiting at a high level.

Tengwall not impressed

I like MC, I just think he started in a rough spot and I fear that starts are important...not as much as pre NIL.  Not a fair weather fan...but Tengwall is right about a few things.  1) when your defense is that bad you go for it on 4th down.  2) Punting is average at best  3) Did we not practice defending what NW clearly runs on offense.  4) is this team worse than the black years talent wise but in addition lacking the heart? 5).........

Agree, I said that during the Wisc game and someone disagreed.  I looked at the stats and they are average at best.  There are a lot of needs which I fear is dangerous, EZ to lose focus, pass blame, try to do more than your job.  Company psychologist once said 'do 100% of your 50%' sounds odd but his point was to do your job and trust the other guy to do his.  Start doing his and I guess he reduces his effort.  On a football team it may be 100% of your 1% :-).  Win your matchup on every play.  That is the culture.  If everyone wins there matchup 60% of the time you will be world class.  Football is such that a few players can take plays off but receivers blocking downfield often turn a 10 yard gain into 50...

I could back up my right fielder 99% but that one time I didn't hustle the ball went to the fence....Why does it work that way?

Let me add...HE IS OUR PUNTER and WE ARE.

Gotta stop with believing in the potential and look at the probability and reality:

MC was a middlin coach at ISU

The hope was he could do more with more e.g. PSU talent; this was a potential with no statistical probability of it happening

The reality is he didn't have more walking in to PSU, and had to bring ISU with him

So he brought middlin ISU to PSU to compete in the BIG, it ain't happening and never was, e.g. teir 1 class 2 HS team is not going to run through a class 5 HS conference, sure, maybe win a game of the dregs but that's about it, a middlin tier class 2 HS team isn't going to do crap against class 5 HS opponets.

The real kicker test will be if he stays long enough and gets the caliber of players needed to win the BIG, can he coach to that standard level, or is he stuck psychologically in a 7-5, 8-4 record.

Saban wasn't good at MSU, but once he got the horses, his coaching style, mental makeup etc, produced winners. Maybe MC has it, but he hasn't shown it yet anywhere, imo.

Our AD fired JF without having a plan in place and we’re paying for it. Looking back I’m not sure how much more MC could have done to prepare for this season.
Pat Kraft should be on the hot seat.

Man I’m tell ya’ll Nick Saban took over a dumpster fire at Michigan St and was beating Ohio St, Penn St and Michigan when he left. Ain’t nobody would’ve done better than slick Nick and what he accomplished at Michigan St that dude was kicking ass that’s why he got the LSU job. 61 this ain’t just you I’m talking to there’s been a few that’s said the same thing you did I’m just pointing out Saban kicked some royal ass while he was at Michigan State it’s just nobody remembers because it was Michigan State and they were awful when he got there. The dude may have done his best job of coaching while he was there heck most average to good coaches can win NC’s at LSU, Ohio St and Alabama, all that is, is doing what you should do.

I agree whole heartedly as postd in another thread. I think the issue of retaining PSU players is one of which only MC knows the truth of the matter and all of the nuances; gotta say though some decisions do make you scratch your head.
