I just got a text from my brother in law claiming MC said Rocco made big plays and kept us in the game !! If he really said that it’s gonna get ugly this week.
It’s bad homer but the dude has thrown for over10k yards. I believe the OC is in way above his head and the DC ain’t much better. The punter is also struggling. I’m not feeling it anymore and changes will need to be made when the season is over. I’d change OC tomorrow if i had someone else that I had some confidence in. The defense just flat out stinks but I’d give Lynn the rest of the season but I don’t see it getting any better because the last 2 QB’s we’ve faced are garbage that’s how bad our defense is.

@roaminglion I said the DC isn’t much better lol…I think maybe we’re still playing with a bunch of recruited players and other teams are playing with NIL transfers that’s on their teams because they’re very good. Have we really gone out and get players that’s good from other teams and pay them a lot of money? I don’t think we have and it’s bit us in the ass. I’m lost roam I just see a team slow and not physically able to compete. Under the old system they would be very good but under NIL today we are below average from what I seen last night. I know we have NIL money but we’ve just give money to players we already had have we give money to any studs and out bid other teams to get the players?

@southern-psu-fan You can be a good OC, DC, or even a good head coach. but if you don't have the talent you are screwed. I told my brother after the 1st game I just don't think they have the players, except for Koby Howard (who will probably portal out after the season) & Tony Rojas. But I guess we can (here hold my beer) still go 10 & 2 !!

Hmm. That’s pretty much what I was telling you back in February and you said no these are great ISU players that will come to Penn State and win the B1G then challenge for a national championship !!
And I hate to tell you this but it isn’t getting any better anytime soon. Our recruiting is mediocre and we don’t do shit in the portal. The only thing that might save us is if Manske turns into a Heisman trophy winner.
This isn't a coaching problem...I reviewed the tape this morning while this funeral was going on...This isn't a coaching problem...This is a talent problem...They don't have the physical ability to match up with these teams...Especially up front...Both lines jump out at me when watching the film...#10 is killing me and #8 is either late or overrunning plays for the most part...My only gripe is the corners are giving way too much cushion as well...Keep in mind they are the better unit of the 2...The offense is frankly offensive...Just terrible...Becht can't throw over the line in a traditional pocket...He is too short and his throwing motion isn't over the top it is more like a 3/4 throwing angle so that makes it even worse...Yes he was under pressure far too often but when he had opportunities he missed...I understand this guys coaching philosophy and frankly I like it but this kumbaya bullshit has to go...He has got to start chewing some ass and make personnel changes...These guys just aren't getting it done...Not only did I see a talent gap but these guys played with zero guts and heart last night...That is the first thing I would address...You don't want to play with fire in your belly go sit down and I will find somebody who will and wants it...This has to be the worst I have seen from Penn State in a very long time...This was really bad...After you watch the tape a few times over it becomes nauseating...I had to stop watching after the 3rd play through as I was getting sick to my stomach and really pissed off at the same time...Gonna be a long season and I honestly don't see them winning 6 games to be bowl eligible...
And yes...I believe Homer's early assessment in February was right on the money...This is a talent problem...
IMO the skill guys from Iowa State aren't the problem. I think with a good OL our run gane would be much better and that would do a lot for Rocco and the pass game.
Some QBs can overcome it, but most can't. Ty Simpson at Alabama was a phenominal college QB and Alabama had loads of talent at the skill positions, and we all saw what Indiana did to them because the OL sucked and they couldn't run the ball. It's a big problem on our offense.
As for the defense, same exact issue. The DL isn't devoid of 4 & 5 star talent... it's devoid of Big Ten backup talent. They are just plain bad.
I said MC is a very good coach. I feel like I need to add context to it... I think he's a great football coach, but has to become a vetter recruiter to be a "great" overall coach. Franklin was a great recruiter, but not a great football coach. Now we have the opposite. Hopefully he can figure out how to get the dudes.

We need a 40 million dollar NIL to compete it will only get harder going forward unless you can pay the studs to come in. 3 years ago what we did this year wouldve worked but no today and it’s only goi to get tougher. I was thinking old school and I was wrong baby.
^Three years ago this team would still have gotten crushed inconference as well. A middlin big12 team isn't ever gonna to compete week in and out with the Big10.

At this point 40 million is a pipe dream. As I told you guys in the live chat mid level donors are not buying into what is currently being sold as PSU football. In fact I was told today that people are bailing out and the latest trend is that season tickets are being cancelled. This season is one of the most important in PSU football history and our head coach and athletic director are failing miserably.

Getting their top tier players would have worked if we had an OL or DL to speak of. The big OL transfer was Brock Riker, who hasn't played in 3 weeks due to injury. The DL? An 8th year DT from UCLA and some dude who bounced around UCLA and Oregon. Not primo guys, and we needed people there. The "big time" guys we got to come here from Iowa State were the WRs, RB, TE, and Safety. No beef on the line really

Hell, I've said that for the past 5 years and I'm not an expert. All one had to do was objectively watch games and not get caught up in confirmation bias.

For the record I’m not ready to give up on Campbell because I think he has potential to be an excellent hire. He just needs to learn that doing everything exactly like he did at ISU isn’t going to work at Penn State. My anger should probably be directed more at the AD than him.
