Saw an article where Ford was asked if he might enter the transfer portal given his reduces role with the Lions and the emergence of Singleton & Allen.  Here are some of his thoughts:

“I want to be better every single day, and why not be in the best running back room in the country right here at Penn State? There's no point in trying to leave and try to get something else when you got what you want right here. This is one of the top programs in the nation."

“If you don't want to fight for it, then s—, what you doing here playing football for? So you got to work for [it] every single day, and that's what we'll do.”

“My mindset that my grandma instilled in me is you finish something that you start,” Ford said. “So it's like, I got that one thing on my mind. I gotta make sure I do everything I can to get the best out of the school and get the school to get the best out of me.”

Really got to give credit to this kid.  If he keeps up with this attitude, it'll serve him well in life.  I bet JoePa is smiling!

He’s Best catching passes out of the backfield. He has his place at Penn St and I believe Yurcich is using him right where he needs to be. I’d be ok with letting him return kicks too.

Nice, be the all around back.  Block, catch passes.

Rocky Bleir made a career of blocking for some PSU Back.

And get a degree 👍

The freshman have taken over and despite what he’s saying today Ford will eventually enter the portal. Saying all the right things and being a team player will open a lot of doors for him later this year/early next year. We need to get 2 backs in the 2023 recruiting class because we’re going to be thin at the position.

@psujoe : I thought the same thing until I read the article,  now Im not so sure he portals.  After saying all that, and he indeed does enter the portal; he'll have a great future in politics.

@psujoe Ford, having said that, if he does portal, he'll be well set for a career in politics or coaching.

If he portals, he may end up having a great career too. Who knkws, in another sysgem he could blossom. Whatever he chooses, it seems he does have a good head on his shoulders.

Speaking of players leaving and blossoming in another system, I was watching CBS sports this evening and they were praising Will Levis. They said he is as physically gifted as any QB in the country, a great leader and the one QB in the SEC that Georgia should be afraid of.

And i guess that some coaches will push kids to the portal if they want the scholarship spot and the kid is 4 deep.  Many credits will not transfer so this portal thing reduces the possibility a kid will get an education.  Entertain for 5 years and go work at Walmart?

One would argue they have the freedom to make their own mistakes but paternalistically it is not good and it is not Paternolistic.

Why wouldnt credits transfer? Credits from a major accredited university often transfer to another without issue. Havent heard of this being an issue at all.
