Not sure if anyone will trust this guy as a leader wherever he transfers to. How could you?

Houston starts 1-3 so he redshirts himself saying he's done for the year and "will be the starter for Houston in 2020"

...he just entered the portal. Man, if I was on a team he was considering I'd certainly question his loyalty and heart. I'm actually all for kids being able to transfer the right way... but this isn't the right way.

Holgorsen was encouraging players to include seniors to red-shirt...  So I'm not going to be so quick to come down on King... It was Holgorsen's plan to red-shirt King

To quote Holgorsen "Four games is four games, and we can use it any way we want to use it"

From what I've read, this was a bit of damage control by Holgerson. All reports were King was going to redshirt himself and then transfer, so the coaching staff did the whole "it was our decision" thing to try and save face.

"Word had already begun to leak that King, the electric dual-threat quarterback who combined for 50 passing and rushing touchdowns in 2018, had decided to redshirt the season after playing in four games.

A report surfaced that King’s intention was to transfer to another school in the offseason, but Houston would soon officially announce that King and senior wide receiver Keith Corbin were going to redshirt 2019 and come back to Houston for 2020, effectively taking a mulligan on their final season as Cougars."

Someday the true story will surface. Until then, best to withhold judgment. Maturity & wisdom comes to some later then to others.

In this case I put more on Holgorsen... He was asking player to red-shirt so he could carry talent over to the following year.  Most see what he was doing as backhanded and not what the 4 game rule was made for.

I really don't blame King or judge him for doing what coach asked.

As I said the reports were that King was doing it without Holgersen, only after hearing about it did he try and save what he could by making it more "his idea"

That said, who knows... "reports" are more like rumors.
