He litteraly said that dreadlocks are awful and disgusting, and I can see how someone would think that it is racist.
It's one thing to say they are not your cup of tea, it's very different to say a hairstyle that is part of black culture is "awful and disgusting" and "certainly not attractive". Crossed the line.

Yea, we have ignorant fans also...and some are racist believe it or not. And yes dreadlocks are related to black culture but the anouncer didn't need to bring up racism. Maybe the ole guy doesn't want PSU players looking like old Miami players, he's allowed an opinion. But there is no story without the racism angle, we all knew it was possible with the letter writer but it seemed people avoided the accusation. Who would write a letter to a 20 year old anyway?
I don't like the Samoan long hair as it is an obvious disadvantage being something to grab but it doesn't make me a racist. We buy tight slippery uniforms and then give the opposition something easy to grab? As a coach I would be inclined to ask a RB with long hair to hide it as best he could.
We are a leading program with race relations. Triplet, minority graduation rate etc. It was unnecessary.

I have no idea, and really don't care. But isn't one of Franklin's parents white? Why the big deal on being the first black coach to win a national championship? Shouldn't it be first 1/2 black coach. Correct me if I'm wrong. This is all just in jest. So don't get crazy.

Well, I know I did my part for Penn State’s win. While attending a Cotton Bowl party I wore head to toe PSU clothing to establish strong mojo. Then I was banished to the kitchen where my viewing was limited. It seems all the big Memphis plays came when I was watching and PSU’s big plays while not watching. Seriously, it was an entertaining game and always more fun when your team wins. It’s hard not to be impressed with Memphis, especially their qb and receivers.

Couldn't have said it better myself! As always, you speak the truth Southern. Anymore, the only group that is fair game are old Christian white guys who believe in the good old US of A. By the way, that was a great game and Happy New Year to one and all!
