Maybe it's just me, but I'm sick and tired of the listing of coaches salaries as if it's all coming from the school. Why do we do that? We make it out like Saban, Sweeney, Franklin, etc. are all getting paid millions of dollars directly from the University. They aren't. You always here "Saban is the highest paid public employee in Alabama", but is he though? What piece of his salary is the government ACTUALLY paying? Any of it?
Saban is set to make 10.7 million in 2022. His base salary is 305K, he gets like 7 million from media right/engagements and 3+ million from endorsements. There are bonuses in there, but I'd guess all tied to boosters or something else. I'd actually be surprised if his base salary is paid by the school either. Probably boosters there as well.
So... my point being is he REALLY they highes paid "public" employee in Alabama if most if not all of his salary IS NOT coming from the school, state, or government? Why can't we just be honest about where the money comes from? AND IT AINT TAXES
As long as Saban is paying his fair share in taxes, that helps with some of the tax burden on ole southern 😂Â
Correct me if I'm wrong (which I frequently am), but aren't the salaries of public employees available as public record information? If so, wouldn't the salary for any coach who works as a public employee list only what he is being paid by the University? If so, that may put the salary of Saban and others in perspective. Â
@rip  BK, the IRS, money and the word taxes gets everybody in a tizzy lol. The LOVE of money is the route to all evil! It’s not the money because money is just paper and numbers, it’s the LOVE of it. People like to say money is the route to all evil but that’s not what the scripture says, it’s says the LOVE of money is the route to all evil. Folk get all up tight when it comes down to money 😂
@southern-psu-fan lol It's not the money, it's the principal! Damn it!
It really isn’t the money as Southern pointed out but the love; an empty cigar box that belonged to pappy can cause just as much hatred, mistrust, family discord, and evil as money, if the person who thought they should have received it, didn’t!Â
