They should be ok, but man , they got some cleanup work to be done before Iowa, OSU and Michigan.
Same could be said for UM, OSU, Iowa, FSU, Clemson, GA and AL to name a few.
Not EVERY painting is a masterpiece, and that sums up the Lions win over Illinois. At no point was Penn State in trouble, they have too much talent and the defense got it done.
What bothered me the most in that game was the Personal Foul Smith had in the 4th quarter that made it 3 and 18 instead of 3rd and 3 in Illinois territory. We end up punting and Illinois drives it down the field for a TD. It is what it is, but that's the kind of stuff they just can't do in big games.
And say what you want, but that Newton is a beast for Illinois. He just had a great game and their defense fed off him and played very well. Probably a good thing for Allar to face that early in the season. However, I think they need to get Pribula in the game more often too. I just think the offense was a little to predictable with Allar, and having Pribula in would have kept them guessing.
Regardless, it was a nice win on the road and I think Allar is doing a nice job. Can't wait to see him back at home vs Iowa and how handles a big White Out game vs a top 25 team.
GO STATE!
We'll see if Allar can handle the whiteout. I guess what I mean is I hope he doesn't get too pumped up and try to do it all himself. He doesn't need to start chucking the ball all over the field. He hasn't thrown an INT yet, and I hope he keeps that streak intact. If we don't turn the ball over, eliminate the stupid penalties, catch the ball, stick with the game plan and the defense continues to be dominant, we should put the game out of reach in short order. Then again, if the bear didn't stop to take a crap..........

Absolutely... Iowa lives and breathes off of turnovers. Their defense has been the reason they aren't a sub .500 team the last few years. Offense has been real bad.
We keep the turnovers to a minimum, we'll be alright.
