Anybody else hear that JK is leaving PSU to take over as DC at Tennessee?

I just read that he’s out but didn’t hear anything about where he might be going.

Yeah he wasn't going to be retained, so Tennessee hired him.

Wouldn't have minded him staying another year, but not too broken up about him leaving either.

Depends... his defense works real well with a capable middle linebacker and safety. You saw with your own eyes the deifference between Rojas and DeLuca.

With Knowles it's kind of famine before feast. Yes it looks bad at first, but once the defense is established and everyone knows their assignments it can be elite. Just a bad fit here with NC expectations NOW and lack of linebacker depth.

^ I think that’s where Knowles and JF failed, they wanted to cram a system in place without the key elements; and did not want to step back, evaluate, and modify to integrate the players they had. That to me that is the difference between good coaches and exceptional coaches. No different than exceptional jockeys, they know how to ride the horse they are on under different circumstances.

JF got one LB in the portal but he needed 2.  Imagine PSU short at LB.  Must be Dan Connors fault 😎

I don't think they are short at linebacker at all...From what I saw of the kids when they played was pretty encouraging...My personal opinion is DeLuca played because he was a Captain and they were loyal to him...I am sure he is a fine person but he is too slow to play linebacker at that level..He was always late or getting sealed off...We are going to see what we have when they play at the stadium against my old school...I am almost as excited about this game as I was for the Oregon game this year...I just hope they kick Dabo's ass...I ain't a big fan of him...

I agree.  We've been told that it generally takes two years to learn his system and other than the Rutgers game, it seemed as though our defense was getting better.  I'd hae been ok with him staying on.

^This^   Franklin had a bad habit of leaving more talented players on the bench while starting his "pets".

I’m trusting MC judgement on all the coaches he keeps!

@been-there-ii  after watching AK these last 6 games after JF got fired he ain’t done a bad job the offense looked better and I seen improvement and a lot of it. Had the defense improved as much as the offense we’d gone 5-1 in them games. I didn’t keep up with the Kansas but how was their offense vs Iowa St offense?  I’m sure JF could’ve gone after the Iowa St OC but he went after AK. IMO Mike Yurcich is better than both of ‘em he got fired when DA was a true sophomore when DA was a first year starter and I personally believe JF pulled the trigger to fast on Mike Yurcich the offense was very young 3 years ago. Just my opinion though

Sure he's looking better, he isn't trying all the cutesy plays he had been. All kinds of motion is his thing. The question is why did he finally stop? He needs to be gone.
