So, still trying to figure this out.  After Penn State beats Maryland next friday, does our win against Buffalo earn more points since they beat that team that beat Maryland, kinda like how our Pitt win just earned more points with them knocking off UCF??  Sometimes figuring out this strength of schedule nonsense just makes me dizzy.

Maryland is going to be a dogfight. It may be the defining moment for PSU’s young team.

Man,  it’s hard to get a feel on our team because you don’t know what Pitt and buffalo teams show up. I said last week Pitt was pretty good and a lot better than I thought. I told somebody on PennLive that the coach at Pitt is a dang good coach and I don’t think they think so because they don’t like him. Forgot the record he took over a train wreck at Pitt and he’s been in the ACC championship game coaching 3* players so that’s pretty good IMO. Pat Narduzzi has got some great wins and he’s the best Pitt will do IMO.

Narduzzi and Franklin are both good coaches. Both of these guys have said things I am sure they wish they could take back. One impressive thing about Saban is that he only talks football specifics. He stays away from the trash talk.

I think Narduzzi is a good X’s and O’s type coach, really good with the fundamentals especially on defense. Some of his game day decisions are just plain head scratching. I use as an example to go for the (missed) field goal over a TD. Pittsburgh Steeler RB James Conner wasn’t a hugely recruited in high school but became a star under his coaching. I’d like to see Franklin do more coaching than yakking. His days of selling PSU to recruits and fans are done, now it’s time to take all those fine recruits and build a consistently Big champion team.

The Narduzzi / Franklin rivalry thing may have been played up a bit, it seemed like they got along fine before the game when they spent 15 minutes talking to each other and smiling.

Obviously both coach respects the other, or you wouldn't spend time chumming around before the game. Sure, they've taken some shots at each other via social media and interviews, but it seems like water under the bridge.

Also, the signal stealing thing seems to be a common theme with Narduzzi. Pitt did the same thing against UCF, running the QB to the sideline every play to get the call.

We are going to find out a lot of things about this Penn State football team on Friday night...One thing is for sure...If they play the way they are capable of playing this game shouldn't be close HOWEVER if they come out like they did against Pitt they are going to be in a lot of trouble...

Hopefully we stop coaching scared and just play our starters, rather than constantly being worried about injuries.

I am just hoping they can block somebody and the front 4 can get a pass rush on their own...They also better stay disciplined and keep contain because if they don't this kid from Maryland is gonna do a number on them with his scrambling ability...

What QB are you talking about? Josh Jackson has -14 yards rushing this year, only 61 last year, and as a freshman had 324... but only averaged 2.4 yards a carry.

He's not exactly Mike Vick.

FD, you’re not the only one that’s said this about Maryland but please tell me what some of y’all see in Maryland that I don’t? It’s Indiana and Maryland every year that scares people and we’ve lost 2 games to these 2 teams in 40 years lol.. 2 games combined. What is there to be scared of brother? I’m sitting in subway right now in SC talking to some Clemson fans and if I told them I was scared of Maryland they’d laugh me out of here lol

We certainly could lose, all I've been saying is that this game is one that we should not lose.

I honestly don't think Penn State should lose a game this season from a talent standpoint but right now they can't block an armchair and they have yet to get any type of pass rush without a blitz... Both are quite concerning to me...

Maryland will not be an issue, they killed Howard (a game that shouldn't count), beat a Syracuse team that has no defense and lost to the first team they played with a defense in Temple.  PSU by 21 or more.

That’s exactly what I see. It may be close for the first quarter but we should best Maryland by 14 points unless we turn the ball over. Most upsets happen because somebody doesn’t take care of the ball.

I agree...This is either gonna be a 3 TD win by PSU or they are gonna lose by 2 TD's...I don't see this being a nail biter either way..I hope you guys are right on this one..

This game will be similar to the Buffalo game, maybe close at half but Maryland doesn't have the dogs to run for 60 minutes.

The Buffalo PSU MD relationship is odd.

Buffalo-PSU even at half

Buffalo loses to upstart Liberty (didn't see that coming)

Buffalo beats Temple, I might have favored Buffalo

Temple beats MD, nobody saw that one

Yes, MD is a home night game with a 'blackout' but those 4 cylinder cars only run on nitrous for so long before the engine blows.

College Football is strange but it feels to me like PSU will need to help MD for MD to win.  And really MD is not that tough an environment for PSU.
