It appears Notre Dame QB Brandon Wimbush, who started 12 games last year & 1st 3 games of this season, is transferring, per Brett McMurphy

Wimbush, Fields, maybe the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Cant blame a kid for wanting to get out of Notre Dame.

I really hope his high school coach that talked him into going to ND is proud of himself. He got a ND education which is a very valuable thing to have, but the football part of the deal was underwhelming. I guess maybe the lesson here is listen to your mother.

If I remember correctly, his mother is a PSU alum and wanted him to come to PSU. Wimbush supposedly liked PSU and Franklin and committed to PSU.  His high school coach is a ND homer and undermined the whole decision.

I thought that was the case as well but not sure if he would have gotten any more playing time. McSorley came in to the program 2 years earlier and I don't think he would have beaten him out as the starting Quarterback

That’s true and an excellent point. Wimbush was committing during the Donovan years also which was not looking real promising. Stevens was the guy Franklin landed when he decommited. So, if Stevens starts and has a good year in ‘19 then I’d say PSU did just fine. It’s just frustrating the way it all transpired. There was a whole SI article about Wimbush’s recruitment and how influential his high school coach was even after Wimbush committed to Franklin and PSU. I can’t figure out how good QB recruits fall for Brian Kelly’s schtick. He never sticks with one guy and will replace his starter at the drop of a hat. If Book struggles in the bowl game, he’ll probably get yanked as well. Wash, rinse, repeat. Year after year.

I was upset with the decommitment but all turned out great for PSU. I also agree with you with about Kelly and his quarterdeck handling over the years. Anyways, I wish Brandon good luck. Enjoy your Christmas Day 99.

Where would Wimbush go? Would have to be a run heavy team IMO, or he'd change positions to a RB or WR...  Doesn't seem to have the accuracy to play QB in a pro-style or spread system.

Actually Southern... Maybe he'd be a good fit at GT? Don't they lose their QB this year and will have a new coach?

We will absolutely take him and yes the Jackets QB is a Sr. New offense coming in but I think he will fit just fine. He’ll definitely be the starter in 2019 because Paul Johnson would take WR’s or RB’s and make QB’s out of ‘em so really we don’t have a true QB.

Hey Southern. Merry Christmas.  I think to be a grad transfer eligible player, unless it has changed, the player has to be enrolled and working towards a masters in a major that wasn’t offered at the school they are transferring from.

That's correct, but if they only have one year of eligibility left I can imagine they can treat it any way they want. Hopefully they work hard and try to excel in the classes, but if they fail them all there's really nothing the NCAA could do about it?  I mean, at the end of the semester they are done playing football anyway. LMAO

That guy from USC was in the same situation, and he was taking ballroom dancing I believe.

Well, that’s too bad. If someone was giving me a free opportunity at obtaining a Masters Degree, I’d be working my b@lls off trying to get the credits I’d need within that extra year. I guess I look at things differently than most of these kids.

Well, when there are millions of dollars waiting in the pros, I'm sure a lot of them want to put every ounce of effort into practicing, studying film, and getting better at football. I mean, they did work their butts off to graduate early so a light semester off isn't really all that bad.
