How bout dem Ga Tech Yellow Jackets baby..how sweet it is. Brent Key got this team going in the right direction baby. 13th all time in bowl wins
Screw them Vespula maculifrons! How 'bout those Sorryrxcuse Orange guys!?! ....oh, never mind.
Going to be interesting to see how Syr does next few years. The orange koolaid is running strong w/ the new coach. I thought Babers was going to make a difference, but ended up being a flash in the pan.
I trust the Panda over most of the opinions I read on here.
You know Southern, as a UCF Grad, I am tempted to award you with a downvote. However, I have too much respect for you and too little respect for Gus "The Bum" Malzahn. How bout dem Ga Tech Yellow Jackets baby..how sweet it is. As Ray Zalinsky, played by Dan Aykroyd, in Tommy Boy said, "Savor the flavor cause it sure as hell won't happen again".
The Birmingham Bowl starts shortly. Hoping Troy get's the victory.
I'm too lazy to look for the answer. Does anybody know the total # of so called bowl games we're up to as of 2023?
32, the number of games we could have with a legit D1 playoff!
Actually I'm just taking a guess but the storyline would be the same.
@tae-buetel I like UCF and I always pulled for ‘em when George O’Leary was their coach. They were dang good when he was there. I believe the Brent Key was coaching at UCF while O’Leary was there he played for O’Leary at Ga Tech. Thanks for the kind words buddy
Since you only guessed (thanks anyway!) and none of my other fellow NITS helped me out, I did a Google search. I can't believe we're up to 43 bowls!! That means 86 schools participate in a bowl game. Since there are 133 schools in the FBS, the metrics say 65% go bowling, lol!!!!
@psu61 I would really like to see the schedule for a "legit D1 playoff" that has 32 games. As far as my math takes me any playoff would have an odd number of games unless there was a single "play in" game to the first round.
@rip There are 43 bowl games including the championship game but only 84 teams. The 2 teams in the championship game play in 2 games each.
You're right 81, forgot about the playoff. That still equates to 63% of FBS teams going bowling, lol.
32 games would be great imo and the season ends for all the others teams. Split the money between all the teams equally because without all the teams what good are the 32.
@rip lol That's 'cause none of the rest of us had any guess & we were/are too lazy/busy to look it up too!
@been-there-ii The new coach is already making an impact, flipping recruits and hiring assistants known for recruiting prowess.
@psujoe Yep, he seems to have hit the ground running, but so did Babers. Time will tell.
Fans are absolutely giddy about having a top 40 ranked recruiting class. Meanwhile, we're bitching 'cause we're not in the top 5.
NW beat Utah and finished 8-5. I never seen this coming NW had a pretty good football team.
@been-there-ii The impressive part is he put it all together in a couple weeks.
A 32-team playoff would take 5 weeks. Why not go all-in for a 128-Team, random-draw playoff which would take 7 weeks?
The key is "Random-Draw" -- no teams would be seeded. Teams would be in a bracket that matches their number of tournament losses. A 2-loss team would play another 2-loss team. There could be a pairing selection show every Sunday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday games could also be determined by a random draw. Location would be determined by a coin-flip and secondarily by a fair distribution policy to ensure each team gets the same number of home games. If kids quit after a team has a loss, they weren't the best team. A team is more than the players on the field.
And all this conference malarky would go away.

@been-there-ii brother, I have a feeling you hate the orange as bad as I here the dawgs lol
@been-there-ii The new coach is already making an impact, flipping recruits and hiring assistants known for recruiting prowess.
Rest assured, this must be true.
@been-there-ii The impressive part is he put it all together in a couple weeks.
Some coaches just have miracle happenings
Not surprising that NW won considering Utah's top 2 QB's and both WRs entered the portal.NW beat Utah and finished 8-5. I never seen this coming NW had a pretty good football team.
Their starting QB is in the portal and actually played in the bowl game. LOL. Nothing gets the team fired up more than a QB who's already told everyone he's leaving
@roaminglion I didn’t watch the game and don’t pay that much attention to know that and I agree with you, distractions like that can get a good team beat. I was just looking at the score lol…NW still had a pretty good season considering the stuff they went through with Fitzgerald
