Who will the first Non Iowa State player to portal into PSU? Still seeing some 5* guys available - still would be huge if MC could sway back Coleman to the fold!
Colorado defensive end Alexander McPherson
I was keeping an eye on the stadium all this weekend to see if it was a lit up for visitors - strangely it wasn't, but Medlar Field was!
If I was Campbell I would be calling Mr. Coleman in for a serious sit down...I would make that kid an offer he couldn't refuse...Tough to watch a player like that walk out the door...
@the-funeral-director Coleman’s headed to the SEC. LSU and Ole Miss are in a bidding war for him.
Well I would be in that bidding war if I was the head coach at PSU...I believe he is that good of a player...
I’d rather have Amari Cambell back
The head coach doesn't control the moneyWell I would be in that bidding war if I was the head coach at PSU...I believe he is that good of a player...
@roaminglion really Roam? I thought the HC would have the most impact but this NIL stuff is way above my head
MC hired the guy(s) (GM) that are supposed to do the NIL so within the budget constraints of the administration I'd say he has control.
My guess is that MC and the GM agreed on a number and Amari thought he was worth more. MC doesn't want to play the game that way.
NIL is not given by the school, so they do not control it. Seperatly 20.5 million goes to ALL students in revenue sharing per school, and that is controlled by the ADMC hired the guy(s) (GM) that are supposed to do the NIL so within the budget constraints of the administration I'd say he has control.

We signed a guy from somewhere other than ISU !!! If anyone picked this guy they won the bet.
The coach might not control it but I am sure he has a direct phone line to the people that do and I would be blowing up their phone lines to allocate the money necessary to keep Coleman and Campbell...To me that is malpractice to let those 2 guys leave the building without a contract...To let players of that caliber walk away signals to me you ain't serious about winning...That is what it tells me...I am going to keep my pie hole shut until all of this is over...My fear is the folks we are bringing in ain't as good as the folks who are leaving...I don't know who controls the money or even where it comes from...All I know is there is money in the program...Whoever the hell is that controls that money needs to sit them 2 players down and figure out the number to keep them around...Losing 2 players of that caliber is malpractice and it sets the tone that we ain't in the same tier as these schools that open up the checkbooks...That is the impression it gives me and the perception that is sends to the rest of the league...We go for 2nd tier players...It's like the Mets and the Yankees when the Wilpon's owned the Mets...
You definitely think it's easy to convince people to either tak or hand over money... I'll give you that.
Cignetti? Just give him enough money and he will come. Players not staying? Money! Money men don't want to spend??? Blow up their phones!
My man... it aint just that easy.
Why can these other schools manage to do it? Why can LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio State and all these other schools manage to pony up the money but PSU can't? I have a couple of charities that I have the honor of being involved with fundraising for...All I can say to your statement is if it was easy everybody would be doing it...I never said it would be easy or is easy...What I am saying is it needs to be done and whoever has that responsibility needs to step it up and do some persuading and get it done...It appears that Tennessee, LSU and Ohio State ain't having any problems coming up with the money...They have managed to find some people who want to spend...PSU needs to go drum up some folks who are willing to spend...The bottom line is there are a lot of teams finding the money to spend...The University is spending upwards of a billion dollars to renovate the stadium and facilities...They might as well burn that money if they ain't going to spend the money to retain their best players and bring in the better players from the portal to put out a championship product...To me letting your leading tackler and best linebacker leave along with your best defensive lineman ain't the way to do it...You can say maybe they want to leave and that may be so...The trick is to sit them down and convince them to stay...Losing those 2 players ain't good and I don't see anybody coming in that can shine their shoes from a talent standpoint...Just my opinion...
@the-funeral-director What would throwing big money at those guys do to our current attempt at rebuilding the roster and trying to build depth? Seems to me that overpaying for one or two guys is only going to make every other guy we try to sign also want to be overpayed.
Depth and getting quality players 3-4 deep at every position is more important than anything right now.
This is why we need a salary cap. A salary cap will keep college football about the money but it will keep it more about loyalty and helmets.
Money isn't the only tradeoff when there are other options for both sides.
If an employee doesn't want to work for you, sure, money can keep them for a short while, but once the decision to leave is there, help them get on down the road!
There ain't no player worth sacrificing whole team success over if that player doesn/t want to be there; no different than in the business world in alot of situations. There ain't nobody who is not replaceable if you have a culture and environment where the next man up wants to be. Have seen multiple times over a long career.
