Intends to enter the portal. He is leaving the team immediately.

The only possible reason to leave immediately is he intends on enrolling in January at his new school. Makes sense if he wants to compete for a starting job. Also... I think he probably suspects/knows Allar is coming back next year.

I guess he thought staying for the home game wouldn't go over well if he entered the portal after a win, because it closes on the 28th.

Now we’re kinda thin at QB and have zero experience behind the starter so this puts a serious dent in our chances in this years playoff IMO and the only way it makes any sense is if Allar informed him that he’s coming back. I went to the PSU website and Pribula is already removed from the roster and also noticed we have a QB named Jack Lambert!!

Ethan Grunkemeyer is the #2 QB now.  I don't know anything about him, except I read some reports that he is doing well in practices as a freshman.

Well - there will be NO trick plays in the CFP for Penn State.  I would think Allar is coming back next year which should help our WR recruiting.  I wonder now if Singleton or Allen will return for another year???

If Grunk really is #2 it won’t be long till Smolik will also be in the portal. I actually thought he’d be going in this year anyway.

Oh well, next man up if needed. Hopefully the other QB’s are making some noise in practice.

@psu61 I feel ya brother! I believe Pribula was a good QB that could do it all. Wish the dude nothing but success unless he’s playing against Penn St or Ga Tech lol The good news is DA has been playing pretty dang good I just hope he doesn’t get hurt. When you have a backup like Pribula it doesn’t hurt you if the starting QB goes down because you can run an offense that the defense hasn’t practiced for. Who is our backup now and what do y’all know about him? Grunk and Smolik? What do we know about ‘em? Thanks

Not great news to start the week. Not totally unexpected, it does hint at DA coming back.

@been-there-ii  Rich Rod at WV might be a great place for Pribula?

The grunk Dude is the one I’m hearing good things about and I heard that’s why the NCAR dude didn’t give Penn St a look. Sounds like we good but I sure wish this would’ve happened after the playoffs.

Ohio State lost JT Barrett next to the last game of the season in 2014 and then backup Jones came in.  He knocked off #13 Wisconsin, #1 Alabama and #2 Oregon for the National title.  Penn State hasn't really been the place for big time QB's of late, but you never who who is sitting quietly as the next unknown ready to make a name for themselves!

GO STATE!!!!!

As far as I'm concerned, the NCAA screwed up once again, the transfer portal should not reopen until the conclusion of the playoffs.

I have a feeling he'll want to stay in the same general region so wouldn't be surprised to see him at WV,Indiana,Meatchicken,Syracuse,MD or Rutgers next season.

Miller Moss went from USC to Louisville, BP is a gamer but he’ll need to go to a very specific scheme to be a starter. I hope he lands at a P4 school but if I had to guess he’ll probably end up at a good G5 school where he can start his RS Junior and Senior years. No matter what if he tries to play on sundays, he’ll most likely be a WR. I think PSU breaking from the Pribula, McSorely and Clifford model of QB is in the best interest of the program. High Level pocket passers will be your best sales pitch to bring in high level WR talent. WRs are something this program desperately needs, there has to be an appeal. I’m ok with this and honestly Franklin had probably already had conversations with BP that he would have had to beat Gronk out in the spring had Drew not returned. I’m curious if this signals Drew’s return to potentially make a play to be the first overall pick next year.

@kularrow  we’ve had DA for 3 years and we still can’t get WR’s from what I’ve heard on here. Kularrow, I don’t think anything is wrong with the WR’s I think DA lacks confidence throwing down field but that’s just my opinion. He’s playing better but he’s gotta stop turning the ball over. The OC needs to also call better plays when it’s 2nd and 1 that’s not all on DA in the Oregon game. I’m satisfied with his play today but the turnovers have gotta stop especially playing teams like Oregon.

So now we need to work on keeping some of our guys on defense and aggressively go after the top portal receivers.

Unfortunately that can't happen, because kids want to enroll in their new school for spring.

He doesn't lack confidence throwing downfield, he does that with Warren even when covered. IMO that says a lot, he just doesn't trust his WR's

@roaminglion  I’m talking about hitting WR’s in stride 30 and 40 yards down field. He just throws the ball up and Warren is big and tall enough to go up and get it like in the USC game. 15 yard passes ain’t down field that is short passes. Pribula hit guys in stride in the Wisconsin game 3 or 4 times right in their hands. The first INT in the Oregon game are passes he struggles with and he shouldn’t be at this point in his career. I don’t want to pile on him because I do believe he’s seeing the field better and he’s playing better he just needs to clean up turning the ball over.

Another advantage of the 128-Team, Unseeded Random Draw Tournament is that it begins in week 5 and only takes 7 weeks.  Therefore, the National Champion is determined before the Portal opens.  The tournament would be a huge WIN for all stakeholders.

The couple time receivers were wide open 30-40 yards downfield for TD’s he severely under threw them too. Maybe he did it on purpose but they were definitely under thrown.
