I hope the boys were watching last night and are prepared for the season.

I'm sure Rutgers thought they were ready; they even had a pre-planned fireworks display.  The link from X is below:

Out of all of the concerns I have regarding this team I have 2 things that I am not concerned about...The first is preparation...I am sure they will be prepared...The second is discipline...I am sure this team will be well prepared and ready to play every game and I am sure we will see a buttoned down disciplined unit...These are the 2 main reasons why I think this team is going to be very good this season...

I can’t recall a year like this where there’s really no hype or excitement heading into the season. Not seeing or hearing it anywhere in central PA.

@psujoe ole southerns house is fired up for the game homer we can’t wait. This season has the same vibe as 2016 to me and that was definitely an exciting year.

Winning will change all of that...They beat USC at home on that white out and you will see all the hype you can handle...

Time will tell but I’m starting to think we screwed up big time by not throwing the checkbook at Chesney.

Matt Cambell has a much better track record than Bob Chesney. What the Indiana coach did will only happen once in a blue moon. Every team thought they had the next Mike Vick until they figured out there was one one Mike Vick and imo Curt Cignetti will end up being the same thing. Tom Allen also recruited a bunch of them players playing at Indiana.

How good is your QB? When a team misses on a QB rather the QB just ain’t got it  or playing in the wrong offense, every team out there will struggle, even Indiana, Oregon and Ohio State. Teams that has QB’s that fit what the offense is built on will win and have a chance to win the NC. Coaches like James Franklin that can’t figure out what he wants in a QB will struggle to win NC’s.

It's kinda nice actually, I like not hearing the hype

The Rutgers loss was dramatic in that former Alabama QB Dylan Lonergan threw 3 interceptions in his first game with Rutgers.  And if his name sounds familiar to you, its because Dylan is the son of 1980s Penn State QB Dan Lonergan (who was a backup QB on our 1982 national championship team),,,,

@psujoe Why's that?

The energy and excitement that Chesney has brought to UCLA is paying off in NIL $ and higher rated recruits.

I agree with Southern, the Cignetti story is a one time thing.  The stars aligned.  Not only did he get it right but watch the playoff games, the IU Receivers made every catch.  Just ridiculous how many big catches and other things that went IU's way.  Just seemed improbable to me.  And I was pulling for IU.

I believe in reversion to the mean...just depends on the time period but eventually things even out.

So no we can not expect this PSU Team to be last years IU Story.

@underlion Exactly !! I get so tired of hearing people like that nut Sayko say “we’re using the IU blueprint” ! Seems like he already forgot last season when he bragged for months that we were going to win the NC because we were using the OSU blueprint.

Only matters if it pays off on the field. I think he will do well at UCLA... how well is the question.
