I was reading this article and it raised my eyebrows in concern for a few reasons.  You can check out the entire article but here are the parts that did not sit so well with me.

“Guys can’t catch a cold at Duke,” said Baldinger, an offensive lineman at Duke from 1979-81 who played 12 years in the NFL."

"Nobody watches Duke football,” Baldinger said. “It’s bad football. Receivers not ready for the ball, running wrong routes. "

Baldinger’s film reel is a montage of Duke receiver drops that could have been big plays downfield or easy completions.

“Doink! Double doink! (Rushers) coming free,” Baldinger said. “Ball in the mitts. Running before he catches it. ... It’s the Bad News Bears."

SO why is this so concerning as a PSU fan?  Because these guys mentioned above were coached by our new WR coach.

Now I am willing to give the guy a chance and from what I have seen in interviews and video clips I like what I see but one thing that I did see at the blue and white game is more drops and that is a little more concerning after reading this article.

The talent level at receiver is higher at PSU than at Duke so no excuses.  Bottom line we have a super accurate QB now so we need our receivers to catch the ball. Take care of the rock and the season could be a memorable one!

Catch the **** ball!

What you do in practice is what you will do in regular season.

FD, doesn't he have to get closer in order to get a cigar?  Don't give him one if he keeps dropping the ball 🤣

Not concerning to me, he was only there as wide receivers coach for one year. Also, I believe in the one year he was there the wide receivers had one of their better seasons.

A lot of the tape in that article is from 2016 and 2017, years when the wide receivers were younger and he was not even the coach.

Roam is spot on.  Plus, the talent level isn't even close to what he'll have at PSU.  Still, to pick out some dropped passes, not bad considering he still completed 60% of his passes. McSorely was 52%  last year.

Poor Pipe .. He is starting to melt down and it's barely May. . They are gonna need to triple up on his meds by the time August rolls around... This is reason for optimism gang..  If Pipe is this worked up already it means he is very concerned that this might just be our year. ..you free next Monday or Tuesday for lunch Pipe? How bout we break some bread and hoist a few?

Agree 100%... Head coach made him the WR coach to get more production and TD's out of the WR core and he did just that.

Duke is a very well coached football team that had a good QB. I believe Clifford will be a great QB the only thing I’m a little worried about is the WR’s catching the dang football. I know it was a spring game but I still seen the same problems not catching the ball. Not catching the ball is contagious and it showed up on the field last year and it cost us 2 maybe 3 wins. James Franklin has an eye for getting good coaches so i trust whatever moves he make. If we take care of the ball another big 10 championship is on the way baby.

You're so right Southern, had the WRs been able to catch the damn ball we would have beat OSU and MSU. Much different season at that point, all because our offense was just killing themselves.

I'm not putting a whole lot of stock in the spring game. The new receivers coach was just getting there during the winter conditioning and had very little time to work with them. Now, in Sept/Oct if they still can't catch a cold I'll be concerned

The sheer potential of an offense with Shorter/Dotson out wide, Hamler in the slot, and Friermuth at TE is ridiculous.

Also, I know there hasn't been a lot of talk about him, but I believe Weston Carr is going to be a big time addition to our passing attack. 6'2" with speed out wide and can play the slot. Runs his routes very well, can provide the senior leadership/experience the group is missing. I know he played DII, but I'm telling you this kid is going to produce.

Aren’t we gettin another WR from Florida St? I think he was a 5*? It’s going to be very hard to defend our offense we just need to catch the ball. Navylion is right though the new coach hasn’t had much time with the team.
