Keep every team where they are - small amounts of shuffling teams around would not effect this idea.  Eliminate Conference Championship Games !!!   So the Big Ten East will be it's own conference ... all split conferences now become 2 separate conferences.  This way, all Conference Champs get auto bids to playoffs.  So just in the Power 5 we will get 10 teams - Mountain West and some of the others should be included too.

So a team like Pittsburgh gets in at 7-5? Nah.

Yeah, you got a point there ... no way a sPitt should make ANY playoff game.  I guess the best scenario is to keep everything like it is and move to at least an 8 team playoff, or even better a 16 team playoff, with all the seeding's and rankings happening as they are now.  Only complaint I would hear is the number of games these kids have to play.  So moving back to a 11 game season would help.  1st and 2nd round games should be home games for higher ranked team, and make the first 8 losers still able to get selected for bowl games.

Just waiting now to see how Roam will pick this apart .. hehehehe

Nope... I am all for everything you just said. I like 8 personally, less likely to piss academics off

And academic requirements should be eliminated. Also players should be paid. They should permit guys with no more than 2 years in the NFL to play. Finally performance enhancing drugs should be permitted.

Now we will get college football where it should be.

All nonsense. There is nothing keeping kids from their studies, it is fully possible to get an education and play football. Any argument to the contrary is based on fiction

Coaches know kids are not in the classroom or take menial courses that go no where just to be eligible. But it’s okay because alumni and other fans want to cheer on the players. That’s not fiction. Coaches want status and big money. That’s not fiction. Most big time players years after their eligibility is up deal with bad backs and headaches and have no financial benefits from their playing days. That’s not fiction.  College presidents, athletic directors, and the NCAA know all about the scam. That’s not fiction. While American college kids are getting drunk at tailgates and take 5 years getting a 4 year degree, Chinese students are taking calculus and busting their academic butts. That’s not fiction.

What is really not fiction is that China’s long term goal is to economically rule the world and to have the military capacity to protect their interests.  (Read Ghost Fleet.). But let’s worry about college football playoffs.

1. Kids on the Penn State team do not just take menial courses to pass. Yes, that is fiction

2. "Coaches want big money" - So what, that has zero to do with academics

3. Kids dealing with headaches and bad backs again... nothing to do with academics. Sure it is a problem, but I was talking about academics

4. You're point about Chinese students is stupid too. There are football players getting degrees in 3 years. And thos chinese students? They only represent the fortunate ones who are allowed to go to school... because many of them don't even have the opportunity to.

You do realize that today, just about any degree is set up for a five year time frame. Paying for a college education is now the new 15-30 year mortgage plan.
