Unpopular opinion, PSU needs to go after a QB like the one they’re playing this weekend in Nico Iamleava. P4 at two schools, stock is down due to fall out at Tennessee. He’s beating Allar in every QB metric this year plus triple in rush yards. I’m not saying he’s the answer but some version of him is. Calling for Grunk or Smolik, guess what? You keep doing things the way you’ve always done them and you’ll keep getting the same result. Power House programs are using the portal, look how Clemsons lack of using the Portal has Dabo cutting WWE promos every week on the media stand after losing another game they should have won.

As I see it, the problem is the game itself has changed (and not for the better).  Unfortunately, the people trying to play the game don't know how to and are just winging it.  What we have is a bunch of "C" students trying to be class president!

@kularrow  you might be be right but I would like to see Grunk play against UCLA just to be sure because UCLA ain’t beating us regardless who the QB is but can Grunk go out there and do what he should do is what I want to see and if he does it’s something to build on. Just try something to get some momentum going and some excitement back. The ND and Oregon game are disaster losses. We need something good to happen baby lol

As Roam says , it doesn’t matter who the QB is because this coaching staff is going to eff him up anyway. Doesn’t matter if he’s a 2,3,4 or 5 star, the longer he is at PSU and under JF’s tutelage the more he will regress. Bring a transfer from the portal in ? I’m sure JF can mess him up too.
When it comes to QB’s there’s no doubt coaching is the issue.

Let’s keep things in perspective here. Number one, you don’t sniff the NFL if you ain’t got something VERY good to offer a NFL team even if it’s the practice squad. James Franklin didn’t recruit Hack so I’m leaving him out of this but McSorely, Levis and Clifford all played in the NFL McSorely 5 or 6 years and Clifford and Levis is still playing and Pribula has Missouri 5-0 ranked in the top 15 ranked in the top 3 passing efficiency. I’m sure he helped Hack but he didn’t recruit him. I don’t believe James Franklin fudged up every QB that comes here because there’s thousands of QB’s that don’t make the NFL. DA would be better in the right offense that’s why I said we should’ve never recruited him. Have at it if you’re upset because DA is stinking up the field and the coaches can’t see he’s a bad fit for the offense. Just saying.

@kularrow imo Georgia and Penn St recruited 2 good QB’s and both teams let the wrong QB walk. Beck was an ok runner but more of a pocket QB but that’s the kind of QB’s Georgia always has and Beck also won a NC so I don’t understand crying Kirby on that while Penn Sthas done better with very athletic QB’s and we let the athletic QB walk that had 2 years of eligibility left. Beck had proven on the field he was the man while DA hasn’t proven anything except he can beat Rutgers and teams like ‘em which imo our defense was good enough to beat these teams like Rutgers regardless who the QB is. Both crying Kirby and James Franklin fudged up and both teams are paying the price because both teams stink on offense. I said it 4 years ago when we recruited DA stop recruiting QB’s that don’t fit what we need to do on offense it’s like recruiting a TE to play OT.

Beck did not win a NC, what are you talking about?

Now you are giving Franklin credit for Levis, who only started at Kentucky? FFS

@roaminglion he recruited and groomed him and he left for Kentucky that’s what I’m talking about. Levis was good when he left Penn St that’s why he was able to step in and play.

I thought Beck was the starter one year my bad.

LMAO He left because he felt he could do better somewhere else and wasn3getting what he needed here. But spin a QB leaving as somehow a great coaching win if you want

@roaminglion so Levis not being able to beat Clifford out for the starting position didn’t have anything to do with him transferring? I’m sure Pribula also left for that reason. Levis could throw the ball when he got to Kentucky just like Pribula can throw the ball since getting to Missouri.

I’m gone keep this real baby. There’s always exceptions but when McSorely and Clifford were the starting QB’s we didn’t lose most of the time because of bad QB play while the last 3 years when we lost was because of bad QB play. Every game we’ve lost the last 3 years is because of bad QB play. We can’t move the chains consistently and good defenses feast on that.

@southern-psu-fan Yeah, the QB play could be better, but so could our RBs and guys that are supposed to hang on to the ball when it finally does hit them in the hands. The whole offense has been pretty lack luster this season. Not just DA

On a side note Gavin McKenna and PSU hockey makes their debut tonight at 10PM vs Arizona. Hopefully the kid lives up to the hype.
