Yep, we dropped a ball in that game to that would’ve ended the game with a win.

Oh we dropped several 'BALLS'.

There are people that play over their heads and will not loose and then there are bright skilled people that just don't get it done.  The trick for an executive is getting the team to perform at or above their potential.  I think our recruiting is good enough, especially to beat Iowa, IL and MSU.  But the leadership is in question and I'm not just questioning coaching.  The best teams will have player leaders and it will be clear who they are.  Name them.  And I don't mean the obvious 'well the QB is the leader' or 'Dodson is the leader'.  Dodson is not a leader as best I can tell, now he is a player and may lead by example.  Is Clifford a leader?  Yes I know he is the defacto leader.  But who holds people accountable?  Who looks to be the one saying, NOW IS THE TIME, FOLLOW ME, GIVE ME THE BALL, RUN BEHIND ME?

There is no leader on this team. No O'lineman that flat out gets it done, no RB who flat out has it, a QB that is serviceable but doesn't necessarily make any one better, no D'Lineman that has a nonstop motor, no LB that can take over a game, serviceable DBs. This doesn't mean that there aren't good players on the team, it means IMO there simply isn't that "It" factor on either side of the ball; and for that matter the same goes for the coaches box.

PSU is realistically a perennial top 5 program in the country but the constant BS lack of development is beyond reasoning. Unfortunately for us older farts who remember the glory decades, and there were a few F'ups then also but there just wasn't the ineptitude that you see today or for that matter the past several years. The JS ordeal is long gone and can't be used as an excuse anymore, IDT.

Lets review a play you'll remember and it happens regularly but this time it was terribly obvious.  Second half, Clifford is getting blitzed, he throws what I'll call a screen out to Dodson, the receiver who is supposed to block 1 person, no confusion, does not touch him and Dodson gets tackled for a loss.  I mean the receiver did not touch the guy.  This was not the lines fault, Dodson did his job, Clifford made an adequate throw and this guy decides it is not his job to block.  I tell you, he should have a seat with the transfer portal paperwork.  Did Dodson say 'hey can I get you a red cape?'  And embarrassingly we put TE's out wide and they can't block DB's either.  I can see getting beat or having a poor block but that just smells of 'not my job'.  Cliiford should grab him by the face mask and say 'look I'm playing with bruised ribs and you won't get in the way of a 180lb DB FOR THE TEAM?

That is a lack of discipline and I see a lot of undisciplined play especially from the OLine...Too many missed assignments...This program has a lot of work to do...

@the-funeral-director Discipline, Desire, Heart/Manhood ... Hard to put you finger on it.  But this team has just been beaten by two 'Lunchpale' teams.  By 1980 Paterno style teams.  Almost beaten by a 3rd in Wisconsin!  Too many players taking too many plays off.

4* Primadonas getting beat by 2* workmen?

PSU should have NEVER been in that situation against Illinois !!!!

PSU coahing flat out sucked! First off they chose to play with an injured, very restricted starting QB. 2. They have obviously failed to develop any of the other QBs on the roster to be legitimate backups or Clifford would have sat.

The offense as a whole, from coaches on down stunk up the field. WTF, you've been having problems getting the running game going all season, and for the 8th consecutive year (regardless of the couple of O linemen who got drafted in the latter rounds) they can't block and open holes, and you continually try to run it up the gut and or off tackle rather than trying to run outside. FFS, I hardly know anything about X's and O's but I know if something is not working after 5 or 6 games in a row it's time to try something different!

During screens where the other receiver is supposed to block, they wiff and we get tackled for a loss. The injured QB has no protection and has to scramble and slide short of the first down marker cause he is already hurt and on and on and on!!!!

THE WHOLE TEAM FROM THE COACHES ON DOWN MANAGED THE GAME TERRIBLY AND PLAYED LIKE SHIT!!!!! DONE END OF STORY!!!!

Is it my imagination or do our running backs look slow when getting to the outside? Is it that they are just slow getting to the edge or they are not built for speed?

@lakerie  to beat Ohio St we need better RB’s. Our RB’s are good just not Penn St good. We got a stud RB  coming according to the recruiting rankings.

Slade, Cain, and Ford were all ranked higher than the kid coming in next year. Slade was benched and left, Cain hasn't panned out, and Ford hardly gets playing time and is now injured? So that doesn't mean much, the next kid won't magically make the OLine good.
