Neither team looked particularly good in this one. But Penn State pulled out the game in OT with good 2nd half / OT play.
Lundy led the Lions with 16. Pickett added 15, Funk had 14 and Wynter contributed 11.
It felt like Northwestern dominated the boards in the first half and they got a lot of second chance shots. Shrewsbury tightened the defense in the second half and Penn State had 17 rebounds in that half vs. 15 for NW.
Penn State had way too many turnovers in this game (15 vs. only 4 for Northwestern) and free throw shooting was poor at 62%. Those items could be our Achilles heel in the remaining post season play.
But a win is a win. On to the B10 Final Four now.
March Madness here we come!!! We are a lock now, but first things first... bring on Indiana or Maryland!!!
These guys are IN the March Madness! All they need to do now is have fun, let it all hang out and shoot the heck out of 3 pointers tomorrow vs whoever they play. They should have absolutely NO pressure on tomorrow! The end game is NOT winning the Big10 Tourney - although how sweet it would be! Going deep in the Tourney would be something else for this group! They are dangerous!!
