@been-there-ii Maybe he fell down a mine shaft? I used to work with a guy from up there and he said when he was a kid out hunting with his father they’d see 40 foot trees vanish right in front of them.

@been-there-ii Unstable ground because of the mine fire. I once drove back a dirt road after a rain in Centralia and some of the puddles were warm enough to heat a can of soup. There were signs everywhere warning about unstable ground.
