New York City has agreed to pay $17.5 million in a class action lawsuit led by two Muslim women who say their religious rights were violated when police forced them to remove their hijabs for mugshots after they were arrested.
We gotta change something to keep this nonsense from happening. Could the police keep them in jail until these 2 women decided to voluntarily give the mugshot?
Southern, why do you bring these stories to the water cooler? We have other things more important to worry about than mugshots.
We had pill poppers and drug addiction under the Trump administration. They were handing out Xanax and uppers like bags of candy.
@forum-titan I already know how you feel about politics I don’t need to go there. This has nothing to do with politics but it does have something to do with our country being safe and the tax payers of NYC being ripped off. The water cooler is exactly where this needs to be. These stupid lawsuits have been going on for 35 years or longer and they need to stop. I guess anything can be about politics but that’s not where I was going because it’s been happening for decades.

I'm staying out of this one.
This is an interesting issue considering you are a religious person Southern. Since taking off a Hijab in front of men is a major violation of their religious beliefs, do you feel it's okay to disregard their constitutional right to freedom of religion? Is it okay to force them to take off their hijabs because Christians think it's a stupid rule?New York City has agreed to pay $17.5 million in a class action lawsuit led by two Muslim women who say their religious rights were violated when police forced them to remove their hijabs for mugshots after they were arrested.

I personally believe that it's okay to make them take off their hijabs, because it's necessary to properly identify who they are. Thought more religious people would argue that a deep rooted belief should not be violated.
My personal belief is we've gone too far with religious protections, where it used to be just allowing people to practice their faith in peace it's now being used to allow bigots to hide behind it like a shield, as well as sue governments for nonsense like this.
@roaminglion we don’t have to make ‘em but they can sit in jail until they take ‘em off it’s their choice and if Christians brake the law they can sit in jail. If you don’t want your religious beliefs being violated then don’t break the law.
By Tighten standards, if it's not about anti Trumisms, it's not worth posting. Correct SPF, Water Cooler is for anything not having a sure area to post it to, not just for titen's reading pleasure. Post away Brother!
