Ford expects buyers to accept longer loan terms

The most common terms for auto loans are 24, 36, 48, 60, 78, and 84 months. The idea is that the longer the term of the loan, the lower your monthly payments, but the more money you end up paying over the life of the loan.

If I do have to get a car payment and I have I just don’t care how many years it’s financed for if I get a great interest rate. Cars cost to much to finance for 4 years now most folks probably need 7 or 8 years. Times are changing because the cost of stuff is out running people’s paychecks. This doesn’t happen much but I disagree with Clark Howard he’s all about 4 years. Ole southern like keeping them bills down monthly baby 😂

It's a total mess. Car and truck market never fully recovered since Covid. Things are going to get worse. Chevy is recalling some 750000 vehicles due to possibility of complete engine failure.  They're about to repair or replace engines for every single one of them.  In the end the consumers pay for it. They'll just raise the price next year. They're also having troubles with the 6 cylinder truck engines. They are seizing due to tolerance issues on the main bearings and rods.

No, it's not going to get better soon. It's going to get worse.

For starters, I'm not going to run out and buy a new truck for 60k. And I'm sure many others feel the same way i do. The base models start around 38k and that's a 4 cylinder. A piece of junk. If I'm buying a truck it's going to be 4WD, V8.

I won't get into the quality issues or the current prices..

I'm sorry,  but things are not getting better very soon.

Why? Because gas are cheaper there?

Gas prices in Georgia tend to be lower than other states.

State taxes are lower, transportation costs are lower.

Geirgia is within the Gulf Coast which plays a major role in fuel distribution systems.

Here in Pennsylvania it's 3.23 gallon

I'm happy, summer is here. I'll have a change in scenery at the end of summer when I go on vacation. Otherwise,  I'm just saying.  Gas prices are higher here. Maybe someday they will go down. It kind of sucks when you drive 600 miles per week. It adds up quick.

@jimmy-v  trust Ole southern snake, help is here and gas prices are dropping. I use to drive 550 miles a week but for the last 13 years I’m only driving 180 miles a week so I know what you’re talking about. Gas don’t hurt me it’s folks like you is why gas being high bothers me when it doesn’t have to be that way.

I dumped Nationwide and went with Geico. Nationwide kept raising my rates. When you inquire all they tell you is "Your rates are higher for your location" . I got sick and tired of it and dumped them. I went with Geico. I have a clean driving record.

Let me prewarn you though.  Geico is very conservative when it comes to collision repair.  They like using aftermarket parts,  used parts from junkyard and that includes newer vehicles.  I went through it when a deer hit my car. I had to fight with them to get OEM parts.

I'm going to be in NC tomorrow after driving from Oregon... was certainly nice to see those gas prices keep dropping the further east and south I got! 🙂
