Do y’all see these commercials telling people to buy gold because they feel the dollar will go under and won’t be worth anything. The way I see it is if the dollar goes under how safe will it be if you have gold. I’m assuming these gold commercials are a scam?

They've been selling gold via commercials since the 80's, it's nothing new.
Just check the long term return of gold vs the stock market, that's all you need to do. As one of the money guys on the local TV stn said, if you want to play in the precious metals market, buy shares of the mining companies, they're the ones making the real money.
I'm not a subscriber to the whole world economy collapse, complete chaos, doomsday theory, but should that happen; the real precious metals will be copper, lead and brass...and a good firearm to use them in.
@been-there-ii exactly BT, I ain’t buying all that crap either about the dollar going under. Even if when the day gets here and we can’t pay the debt I think the dollar will still be good somebody is just going to lose out on trillions of dollars. We got to many people in this country with guns for anybody to try and come over here and take this from us 😂
@southern-psu-fan My "sort of" father in law, buys into the dollar collapsing BS and was preaching to me about needing to buy gold and bury it in my back 40 somewhere, so when the excrement hits the fan, I'll be able to buy things. I told him, I can't eat gold. But I produce my own food. I can't use gold for much, so gold won't be buying many of my veggies and venison. That kind of stopped him from preaching "buy gold" to me.
I don’t know Southern, maybe there is something to buying gold, but when I saw Bill O’Reilly on the commercial, I questioned the validity of it. As BT said, you can’t eat or drink gold. Make no mistake, the companies (and their hired commercial personalities) are benefitting greatly from those of us who fall for their sales pitch.
@lionbacker99 The only gold that’s in my house is on my wife’s ring 😂. Maybe I got some in the 401k and don’t know it. You want ole Bill out there 99 he gives you a great take for the middle.
