I’ve got a lot of people that know way more about the Bible than me and they know as much about the Bible as joepa knows about football on steroids if you know what I mean but they don’t know this question. I know you guys are great Catholics and BK I believe your brother is a priest so can y’all please answer this if you know it and hopefully your brother knows BK because I believe the answer has to be in our Christian catholic faith. When Jesus said if I don’t go he won’t come but if I go I’ll send him to you one exactly just like me meaning the Holy Spirit but I want to know why he had to go why couldn’t the Holy Spirit come while he was here? Nobody can answer this for me not even my pastor or any of my spiritual advisers that I go to and brother I got some good ones 😂 thanks for your help
There’s has to be a reason or he wouldn’t have said it like that, right?
Here's the answer I got from my brother.
"The way God (The triune God, the Blessed Trinity) was in contact with us in this struggling world was as God the father. He revealed himself to Abraham, Moses, etc. until the coming of John the Baptist. He was the last prophet. Then God revealed himself in Jesus, born as a tiny baby in Bethlehem. After 33 years He suffered and died on the cross. Then He rose again, ascending out of physical contact with us on earth. After ascending into heaven, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be with us until now. When Jesus comes back again in the second coming , we will see the trinity as it really is; three persons in One God (which is a mystery)"
I don't know if that answers your question, but I hope it helps!
I must say I don't study scripture and haven't had catechism since high school. The question you pose is more complex I can answer so I thank Bob for his and brother's eliquent answer. I only remember from Catholic grade school that original sin was so grievance that only God could redeem the mankind for its sin so he sent His only Son to atone through death on the Cross. You are both really good guys and a pleasure to me to share the board with you (and other guys too).
Same goes for you too, Lake. Always learn something from you & Southern! At this time of the year, let's all remember HE is the reason for the season.
My take is that in the absense of physical presence there must be something, The Spirit, to hold onto in order to give Hope. Therefore we must go before the Spirt can once again materialise in to the physical presence. I however have come to believe that the Spirit is present in every day life in a few select moments of time and place which lends itself to supporting our faith that there is actually a Holy Trinity. Now, I must confess that I have stepped away from the formal church and find my religion often in times of quietness while literally sitting on a rock or stump in the woods, watching autumn leaves pass by on a gentle flowing mountain stream or watching my kid from afar performing acts of kindness without any interruption or influence of formally being taught religion; his actions are solely a reflection of who he is as a human being, and the goodness, hope, and Faith, that some of us believe in.
@psu61 Jehovah said he’ll make this way of gettin to him in heaven so easy a fool can understand it baby. I kind of paraphrased it but that’s what he means 😂 if ole southern can understand it, anybody can understand it because I don’t give in easy I can be hardheaded sometimes lol
