Ran into some of your friends yesterday Bob. Was weeding my new row of strawberries yesterday, shorts, barefoot, no shirt. Weeding on my hands and knees, 'cause my back only bends for a min or two before it revolts. So I'm crawling along yanking weeds and accidentally pulled out a runner plant. I look around and see a nice little round hole on the dirt, perfect for replanting...hey, might be where I pulled it out of. In the back of my mind, there's a thought floating around that, that's the roundest hole I've ever seen from pulling a plant out by it's roots, except when pulling up carrots. But I ignore that idea.

Well, I shoved the plant in the hole, smashed the soil in around it's roots, then reached for the next weed. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch all kinds of activity in the shade directly under my horizontal torso.  I dropped my head to better focus on the, riotous cloud of yellow jackets erupting from the ground around my freshly planted strawberry! "AH SHIT" immediately flashed through my no longer day dreaming brain.

I launched from being on all 4s, to sprinting out of the berry patch in the blink of an eye. Not sure I ever came out of the blocks that fast in my HS track days. My back didn't protest one bit! Seemed like an eternity of waiting for that 1st sting, knowing it's coming and wondering how many you'll get....nothing. My guardian angle must have been right there, can't believe I didn't get stung!
