@roaminglion  gas in California is $477 a gallon and here in Temple, Ga it’s $275 that shows you folks in California are being fudged and it ain’t because of supply and demand. Some of it’s supply and demand but half of it ain’t it’s folks being ripped off by politicians. Some places in California is $7 to $10 a gallon  I’m going on the average at $477 it’s a scam for money ripping people off.

The average gas price is the nationwide average. It's been tabulated the same way for a long time, there's no conspiracy... California isn't jacking up prices to make Trump look bad, the numbers are what they are. The average gas price nationwide has gone up since Trump took office, it is what it is.

I, for one, don't care... mainly because I don't think the President affects gas prices all that much like you do.

@roaminglion  California politicians have been ripping the people of California off way before Trump come along my opinion on gas has nothing to do with Trump except his policies bring the price down which it has around here. It’s down about $35 cents a gallon. If it can come down $35 cents here it can everywhere and in Tennessee it’s $25 cents cheaper. I believe it will be below $2.50 by the end of the year. He’s got 9 more months.

California has the highest state gasoline taxes and fees among any other states. Here in Pennsylvania gas prices are 3.39 gallon and climbing.

Supply and demand. Politicians don't have apps on their phone to raise or lower the prices as they please and play games. When demand is down,  prices go down. Marketing 101

@jimmy-v   California has the highest state gasoline taxes and fees among any other states………these are your words not mine. As you said California has high state taxes and fees so that right there shows you politicians can have an effect on gas prices and I’m telling you a president policies also can.

Oil companies are going to make a certain amount of money but if policies of our president makes them spend more money or cost them money they’ll just jack the price up little by little to cover it just like they always have. The more electric cars we put on the road will make them jack the prices up even more and some politicians in this country want gas $10 a gallon look in California a state that’s mandated the state go totally electric in 10 years. It’s right in front of your eyes.

California rates, taxes, and being higher than everywhere else has not changed from last year, January 21st, or today. The national average gas price is higher today than they were when Trump took office. Stop trying to find excuses or blame California for it.

There are a lot of reasons for it, I'm not blaming Trump. It is what it is

Smog Act of the 1960s, stricter vehicle emissions. California has special blended gasoline to cut on pollution. That's why California has higher prices,  tax.

We have the same special blend BS in the winter here in NYS too. Allegedly it cuts down on emissions, but also cuts my gas milage by ~20% when using it. Interesting trade off, particularly since most of NY isn't NYC, so there isn't a smog problem.

@roaminglion I’m not blaming California people I feel sorry for the people getting ripped off like they always have I’m blaming the politicians in the state. If gas can be down 30 or 40 cents in Alabama , Georgia and Tennessee they can be down the same in other states that’s not making excuses the other states are fudging people.

What the hell are you talking about? It's not down in those states by 30 or 40 cents... not even close.

  • Georgia on 01/21/25 was $2.92 and today it's $2.94 - Up 2 cents
  • Alabama on 01/21/25 was $2.81 and today it's $2.79 - Down 2 cents
  • Tennessee on 01/21/25 was $2.77 and today it's $2.77 - Neither up nor down

Now I'm sure you could find numbers a few cents either way, but who the heck are you listening to that's shoveling this BS about being down 30 or 40 cents? State average for all gas stations.

FYI - A big reason the west coast also has higher gas prices has nothing to do with tax or the type of gas. It's the transmission costs to get it out here. Most refineries are elsewhere, so the cost to transport it out here adds to the price.

@roaminglion  I go by what I pay for gas and what I see it for with my own eyes. In Bristol Tennessee I paid I believe 259 a gallon and a day or 2 ago I paid 275 and if these gas stations can sell it for that the rest can sell it for that. It’s a dang rip off roam. In February we will see.

FFS - you see maybe 10 gas stations out of how many in a state. LOL

You're implying all the gas stations are colluding to make Trump look bad. Come on man.

The QT and racetrac use to be the cheapest but now chevron at a smaller gas stations are 15 to 20 cents a gallon cheaper. Gas doesn’t hurt me I only drive 19 miles to work and my wife drives 4 miles but it does hurt a lot of people. My wife only driving 4 miles to work is the reason I want an electric car. I’m assuming you parked the Tesla until all this stupid shit dies down with Musk and these scumbags out there destroying Tesla are attacking mostly liberals. That crap pisses me off destroying other peoples property. Throw the book at these punks.
