Probably the most intersting thing about this match will be to see what starters will be rested. if all starters go, I can't imagine anything other than a PSU shut out. It's also senior day. On the PSU roster, seniors are indicated as Senior or Senior + and I'm guessing the + indicates no further eligability after this season..... so lets see what happens with these seniors:
Brady Berge-S 157/165: Will he go 157 or 165? In my opinion I think he goes 166
RBY 133-S: If he goes it wil indicate he's not coming back next year
Hildebrandt S+: Â he should go as i don't think this is his final year of eligibility
Austin Hoops 184/197: could he fill in for Brooks or Dean letting them it for the day?
Nick Lee-S+ 141: He will definitely be in the line up and his opponant Kinner is ranked, probably the most evenly matched bout.
Also, I think we will see Mason Manville for Carter Starocci at 174 giving him additional time to heal his wrist
The most interesting thing is Berge moved to 157, won his match and then wrestled the same guy again in an 'extra match'. That must have something to do with getting seeded at 157?
Still working at getting a wrestler at every weight for NCAA's and getting Berge at his preferred weight?
I got things mostly wrong but a few interesting things happening yesterday 🤔 .
With all but one backup in the line, PSU was able to shut out Rider. Austin Hoops wrestled for Brooks at 184 for Dean but basically it was the full PSU line up. Now we know who's going into Big10's with Berge at 157 and Edsell at 165. Maybe the only suprise was the score between Lee and Kinner though expectations for Lee to bonus every opponant is unrealistic. Kinner is a formidable and ranked opponant that transferred from Ohio State. I can't wait for Big 10's and nationals.
Also, interesting things at Starocci's weight (174#) where I saw that Nebraska's Labriola beat Kemmerer yesterday and Hidley got pinned the day before.Â

I read an interesting article about Berge at 157. The author basically laid out that when healthy, Berge can do a lot of damage especially at his preferred 157 weight. Pointed out that he's never lost to two other wrestlers in the Big Ten who are rankled #8 and #10 nationally, which shows how he has the potential to finish highly and maybe even win the BT Tourney.
Of course, that's best case scenario, but with two highly ranked 157 guys going down for the year with injuries the weight is wide open.
He will be the cinderella story of the NCAA's if he can get there. Deakin is #1 and #2 in the Big 10 and #2 overall. Â I think it was Brayton Lee that went down? Austin O'Connor is #3 and David Carr is #1 overall. His endurance has improved dramatically since the Marinelli match and certainly has the skill. Who knows? Top 5 is not out of the question.
