Great match last night if you had a chance to watch it on BTN. I thought Schnupp did a serviceable job against a ranked Mattin. Lee looked fantastic against a higher ranked opponent. Verkleeran looked good against a veteran Amine up until when he gassed, probably because he had to cut to the weight when he found out he was wrestling that day. Cassar looked strong against a very good freshman and Bo did what Bo does and that was pin. I guess my only let down was Joseph and Hall who both looked tentative. That said, their opponents were ranked and they won so no bigeeee. Ohio State should be fun next week, especially if RBY is ready for McKenna.
Only got to watch the last few matches but what a great venue. The announcers said there was a crowd of 15,998 at the BJC and what an atmosphere. Would like to see more big matches there.
I know what you mean. I think the issue is the overal financials to reserve which I find ridiculous since crowds will always be better for wrestling than basketball. The other thing is the intimacy of Rec Hall and how intimidating it is to other teams.
The BJC is not a great venue for wrestling matches. It's fine once a year to let a lot of people see a match. But rec hall is much better to be up close, crowd noise and intimacy. Ohio State at rec hall last year was the best match I've been to since the 80's. Last night was fine, but there was no excitement, wasn't even close to the feel. Only real advantage is the seats are nice. I thought the video screen was terrible. The sound system and fire were good though. Traffic was terrible once again. Harder to get out of than a football game. It's good practice for what a final will be like in the Big 10 and nationals.
Ridiculous that there wasn’t an replacement headgear for Cessar. Ref should have started injury time. Each wrestler should have a replacement headgear that has been previously adjusted matside. The fact that one was not available that fit this criteria is on the coaches. Hopefully Cael and company learned a lesson.
I wondered about that but didn’t know what the ruling was.

Agree with all except Joseph and Hall comment. Both wrestled tough opponents who have wrestled them similar in the past. A win is a win. Each worked hard to beat their opponent. Also, wouldn’t RBY be wrestling Pletcher, not McKenna? Lee will get McKenna at 141, right?

I have experienced wrestling in both the BJC and Rec Hall. In my opinion, I’ll take Rec Hall every single time. I’m not a big fan of the BJC. It may be the worst sports arena I have ever been in. I think it was designed with concerts and home shows in mind, not sports.

Joseph admitted in an interview he was more worried about what Massa would do then get his offense on. Not sure where I read it, maybe the Collegian. Yes , he wrestled tough as he always does but will probably shoot more and be less tentative going forward. Same with Hall though I can admit he always does what’s needed for the win. Not taking anything away from these guys and this time of the year is a meat grinder with weight management, nagging injuries and getting ready for March. I stand corrected, RBY vs Pletcher. Lee vs McKenna will be interesting.

Well LB99, I will defer to you and the other people that have actually been to a match and feel that Rec Hall is better. The way the announcers were commenting over the size of the crowd and atmosphere, I thought it was something special.
Micic represents Serbia and is making a big name for himself in Serbia. Amine's grandfather wrestled in the Olympics representing Lebanon. Great wrestlers.
