BS in my opinion. Cassar is the champion of a conference that has 9 of the top 16 heavyweights in the country, and White is in a conference devoid of HWT talent.
Yes White beat Cassar, but Cassar was also just becoming a heavyweight and weighed 25 lbs less. Also, it was only 3-2 while Stevensen beat White 8-2, and White was never in the match. It's clear to everyone watching Cassar got better.
White should be #3 behind Cassar and Stevensen.
Cassar vs Stevenson in the semi finals... boy I hope Ant_the_champ can beat him again!!!
They had to give something to Smith. I guess it was White. OK State has always been big contenders outside the B-10. Smith has always had a good team. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Smith_(wrestler)
Seeding doesn’t matter as much as wrestling. A win in the semis is just important as a win in the finals.
Seeding does matter, sometimes it's the difference between second and third. Is what it is, of course if you win then seeding didn't matter, but if you lose to a guy who you otherwise would have seen in the finals then from a team score perspective it definitely matters.
I understand the debate. There are legitimate points on both side. I think the bottom line is you have to beat the competition in front of you. However, it would be nice if they kept the finalist from a conference in different brackets if possible. With that said, Cassar should probably be the number one. Let the other two meet in the semi's. The number of conference qualifiers from the Big and winning the conference is a pretty big plus on Cassar's side, despite the early January 1 point loss. There's been a lot of time for improvement. The latest result should hold more weight. It's like football, an early September loss is less relevant than a late November loss in the polls

Very well said OMPA1
I'm sure Sanderson is working out with Cassar heavy this week. Cassar is a left handed wrestler and I'm sure Stevenson and White's coach is coaching them on this. And what to be ready for with a left handed wrestler.
Last year Sanderson had Cassar wrestle OSU ranked #1 wrestler instead of Rasheed, because both were left handed. Cassar won and a big upset.

I coached wrestling for 20 years. I always told my guys if they didn’t like the seed, prove everyone wrong by winning the tournament. The best kids I coached never cared where they were seeded;’they were always ready for the battle regardless of where it began or the course it would take. Sanderson is not complaining about the seed. Cassar is not complaining about the seed. The only complaints I have heard are coming from fans.
Seeding does not matter for the warriors of this sport.
I think k it does matter or they wouldn’t seed. You want the best 2 wrestlers standing in the end that what the finals is all about.

I agree with Sky, seeding is more of an art than science and in Cassar, Steveson, White case really splitting hairs. Fact is , if Cassar gets by Steveson, his road to a NC is easier than White’s. White still has to get by last year’s AA Stoll early, very dangerous. In another quirk, in my opinion I think Cenzo has an easier road with the #2 seed than Marinelli who has JoJo Smith right away, lots of land mines before he gets to finals. Sky, I coached as well, about 30 kindergarten and 1st graders for AAU. I thought I was going to lose my mind.
Sky, do you mind saying where you coached or what district? I had 2 brothers that wrestled in high school. District 3. They both placed in the states. One was state runner up. Got beat 4-3 to a wrestler from Lake Leaman. The year the 2 twins one states for L. L. The other took 3rd his senior year.
Stoll vs Beard Mich State in the B10 6-1. Cassar beat Beard by a tech fall the next to the last duel of the season this year. Hopefully Cassar can win out. It's going to be a thriller if he wrestles Stevenson again.

Roam, a question. When you said last year's AA, are you talking Sam Stoll, Iowa? Thanks
Steaky, that was lakeerie not me... However, yes I believe he meant Sam Stoll.
Thanks and sorry. I think the HWT Stoll from Iowa is a senior. I wasn't sure if we were talking the same person. Iowa, Stoll I think got beat x4 in a row this year. Maybe somewhere like 9-6 or 7 is a record. He just qualified for the Nationals last weekend.
Steaky, that is correct, Sam Stoll. Since I type one finger at a time on an iPad, my posts often could use better grammar and spelling. Stoll beat Neville’s for 4th place last year. He is a threat to White, if for no other reason would require a lot of energy to beat him. Stoll had a very disappointing senior year with a an even more disappointing big 10 tournament. One would think the consensus #2 early season ranked hvy might have something to prove ( my opinion anyway). A few questions about your brother and the kid from Lake Lehman your brother lost to... what weight was that and what year? Did the LL kid transfer from from Clarion high school? If I recall, that kid came out of no where and because of an early injury, didn’t have that many matches to scout. I’m also thinking he opted to play college baseball than wrestle.
Lol. Perfectly understood. I also type the same way and mostly on my tablets. Ro. Bonomo? Remember him. That's who my brother wrested in the finals.
Steaky, I’m thinking of Scott Davis who defeated Joey Anceravage for the 2007 AA state championship at 140. He later played baseball at Delaware State. That said, I think I know who your brother is and who he lost to. Very impressive, VERY tough kid. I won’t say more to respect anonymity.

I typed before seeing your response, yes, Ro Bonomo.
