If you want to take other visits just don't commit... It's not that hard.
Bottom line is Wingo was never really committed to PSU.
Next man up!
Wake me in Dec. & let me know who signed their LOI.
What puzzles me is the whole " if you're committed you cant take other visits" malarkey. JF certainly doesnt mind flipping a recruit if he gets the chance.
Seems like he's talking out of both sides of his mouth.

The quote was they don't "WANT" me to take other visits.... He did not says coaches said he CAN'T...
It's easy don't commit if you want to keep your options open. It seems to me Franklin wants them to stand by their commitment once they make that choice and commit. Coaches are going to offer players committed or not it's up to the committed players at that point.
Wingo obviously was not concerned about taking many visits and keeping his options open as he already committed. I call BS on his reasoning.
The point I'm trying to make is that JF doesnt want his committed recruits to visit anywhere else yet he has no problem recruiting a kid that is committed elsewhere. Double standard.

No it's the standard... You think every other coach wants their commits to continue looking... Again JF never said he can't but I find it funny he complained about not giving other schools equal opportunity to turn around and commit that quick.
Don’t do as I do, do as I say do tsuga lol
Coaches are after recruits and tell me how many want their commits to keep looking... Like I said it's on the player to make a choice if you want to keep looking don't commit if you did don't get bent out of shape when a a coach says they don't want you to...
I have yet to see anything that says JF said he can't...
It's obvious he was not worried about a bunch of visits.

Aint that the truth brother!! We bitch about a teenager not honoring a commitment but applaud the coach when he flips a commitment. Strange world we live in. I guess I'm a lead by example kind of guy!!
What example is that?
Coaches keep recruting players keep committing and players keep changing their minds which leads coaches to keep recruting.
He is free to do what he wants just don't buy his excuse.
I guess too many people (recruits, coaches, media, fans, etc.) use the term "commit" too loosely without considering what the word actually means. In my opinion, it's not a term that should be used so loosely today. It would probably be better to use something like "leaning", "strongly considering", "favoring" or similar terminology.
Cant be flipped if you are committed, no different than a coach leaving under contract. As said, next man up.

You nailed it BK. Truth is, you and i are dinosaurs. The word commit doesnt have the same meaning as it once did. You and i were raised to understand that committment is a two way street, i honestly dont see that anymore on any team.

I'd like to call BS on this a bit... as someone who knows many who went through the recruitment process during the 80s and 90s, I can tell you decommitments happened back then too. You just didn't hear about them because there were no recruiting websites, twitter feeds, or public announcements for high school athletes.
Heck, I know a few people who had to change their plans because the school took back their offer because someone better came along... or some other reason.
Because of the people I know who played DI football and their experiences, I just don't buy the "a kid's word meant more back then" stuff.
Just an old saying nitnation lol. I’m not worried one bit about recruiting because we have the best players since probably 2011. This team is stacked and if a kid changes his mind I know James Franklin will get another stud to take his place. I’m more worried about the transfer thing and letting some kids transfer just because they know they won’t start but punish other kids by making them sit out a year. Needs to be one rule and that’s if you transfer you have to sit a year regardless of the reason that way every team, coach and players are playing by the same rules.
Just want to add recruiting is a dirty game today because most coaches will lie and say anything to get the best players. The honesty of coaches like the greatest Joe Payerno are pretty much gone. Remember I’m the one that said 4 years ago that James Franklin will have to get down in the mud with all these Meyers of the world if he wants to win and I’m sure he’s got in the mud quite a few times and I’m sure he’ll get back down in it when he needs to and I ain’t got a problem with it, it is what it is baby.
Roam: I hear ya bud. It happened to a buddy of mine back in the mid 60's. He had a full ride to T A&M but shattered his knee cap during his last HS game and they pulled his offer. It wasnt right then and it aint right now. Thats why i keep saying its a two way street.
I'll say it again.....its not right that we bust on a kid for decommitting but praise a coach for flipping a kid. I got nothing against a kid that decommits.
IMO until they sign they can do what they want just like coaches do. I wonder what James Franklin told Barkley to get him to flip? Lol and he’s ain’t done either. Who’s complaining anyway?
Remember Barkley only committed to Rutgers because he thought he would not get any other offers, but I do think if a player wants to keep his options open he should not commit
I agree... In this case I'm not sure what Wingo was trying to keep open but he is free to move on.
I also think some players jump on a good offer then use that to see what counter offers they might get. PSU has a very good group of LB's and maybe FLA told him he would play right away.

Exactly! Thank you Cohappy Keep all your options open and don't say you commit until you sign your LOI. As Tsuga said, it's a two way street and coaches need to be honest throughout the process.
