If Metchie was healthy I'd say Bama, but I do think Georgia will be able to better contain Alabama's offense with him out. That said, I'll still take Bama but in a close one.

The best team probably is in the top 4 but an eight team playoff system would put more heat and competition in the playoffs. With eight the best team might not always win?

I also couldn't care less and am not watching. Quite honestly I haven't been paying attention to it at all and thought the game was next week.

If the tournament was 8 teams, 12 teams or 16 teams the best team would ALWAYS win it as they beat the teams they played to win the title...It sure as hell beats the beauty pageant that is going on now...What a farce...

Well the Big Ten Champ Michigan sure didn't look like a beauty at all.

Expanding the tournament would increase the number of meaningful contests.

As long as you have a seeded tournament, you will always have an end result close to the #1 seed vs #2 seed in the final.  #1 plays #16, #2 Plays #15, #3 Plays #14 ............#1 plays #2

Did the BCS improve college football?  Does the current system improve college football?

The answer you seek is a 128-Team Tournament based on a random draw.  The graphic is below.  It is a 7-week tournament beginning in week 6 of the season.  Teams can play whomever they want in the first 4 weeks and the results don't matter.  Week 5 is a bye-week for all.  At the end of the tournament, teams can play a rivalry game and then a bowl game.   Match-ups are determined every Sunday during the tournament by a random draw within each Tournament Loss Group.  A "0 Loss Team" will only play a "0 Loss Team".  A "1 Loss Team" will only play a "1 Loss Team".  The format places a premium on performance by all - coaches, staff, players and administrators.

Didn't watch the "championship game", the woke version of the National Anthem was enough for me.  But it sure does look like the results in the Souf-Eastern Futeball Conference (SEFC) involving teams with playoff potential are as fraudulent as professional wrestling.  It was awfully convenient for Alabama to beat Georgia in the SEFC championship game which paved the way for two SEFC teams to get into the playoffs.....again.  Or not.  Might just be a coincidence that every year at least one SEFC team with playoff potential always seems to find a way to win.

I'm off the net until August.  Beutel Out!
