When will Franklin be replaced?  Penn State will never be an elite program under his leadership.

Not soon enough.  I for one am tired of clock mismanagement and poor play calling in the fourth quarter.  I would rather have 8 wins per season than watch JF throw away two games every year.

@uscgbosn who are you going to get? Dabo and Saban ain’t leaving theirs spots. Go look up most good teams that lose late in the game and you’ll see most teams lose exactly like Penn State loses. There’s only a few coaches that are on the level that James Franklin is and there’s only 2 that’s probably better. Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Ohio St and Oklahoma all usually lose 1 or 2 games a year just like James Franklin has been doing and James Franklin has just got back on a level playing field and the dude was still winning big 10 championship and big dawg bowl games. The loss sux but it’s one loss that we has a chance to win let’s not act like we’re gettin blown out because when we lose,  it’s usually a nail biter.

Also Mr. Dan the great Bobby Bowdon and the great Nick Saban only have 1 undefeated season so winning 11 games and your bowl game is almost as good as it’s going to get. Fiesta and cotton bowl wins and a Rose loss is just about as good as it’s going to get unless you win a NC. Ole Joe made it look easy gettin 5 undefeated seasons but there’s only 1 joe Paterno 😁

Hey newbie .. talk to Nebraska fans who wanted Bo Pelini gone after seasons of 9-4 10-4 10-4 9-4-10-4 9-4 9-4. After they fired him they have gone 6-7 9-4 4-8 4-8 5-7 so be careful what you ask for. And BTW .... you fire Franklin after the last 4 seasons of 11-3 11-2 9-4 11-2 in the Big10 East, what Coach is going to want to go to a program that would fire a Coach after 4 seasons with that kind of record.

@wnylion I’ll admit I’m a huge James Franklin fan but I’m a big fan of his because of the results on the field at Penn State. 11, 11, 9 and 11 is a lot of wins baby I’ll take it all day long. I understand people being frustrated heck I  jumped off the couch when we ran the ball and scored and my wife said she thought she heard me say the fudge word lol. They just messed up man, it happens. I still believe the best thing we can do is take it out on Ohio State!

I watched Franklin's post game presser, and somewhat read between the lines that the players WERE told, do not score.  We are running the ball cuz that will knock off a few more ticks off the clock than kneeling does, and with IU still having 1 timeout, a few more ticks off the clock was needed.  But no way would Franklin ever throw that player or any player under the bus and say Yes, we talked about that before the series started.  He went with the other mistakes as the reason they were even in a situation where a very bad call would determine the outcome of the game.  I could be wrong and it is ALL on Franklin's poor clock management skills - or he protected his team from the finger pointing that comes from a situation like this.

@bobs-dimpled-chin  should’ve had the QB just knee the ball down when you give it to the RB their instincts is to run and score and that’s what happened. Remember the end of the Wisconsin games in the big 10 championship game McSorely all the way taken knees. That was a hard pill to swallow bob  lol BTW bob the Falcons pretty much lost the same way Sunday lol

You're right SPF, sometimes years of training overrides the rest of your brain.

Heard on the radio this morning that the Falcons were so bad, they can't keep themselves from scoring. They followed that with "If you're a Falcons supporter, the two minute warning is for the fans, rather than the teams playing. It's so they can get ready for their for their day to go in the dumpster.

My issue is how the games are lost they are losing the same way to inferior teams.  If they get beat by a better team so be it, when they lose because of mistakes, especially the coaches, consistently there is a problem.  How many of those loses in the last 3 or 4 years should they have won?

I disagree, because we aren't losing consistently to "inferior teams". Minnesota was not inferior last year, I think some people just see the name "Minnesota" and feel that way. They were 10-2, just like us and ranked highly. Our other loss was to Ohio State.

Other than Indiana, probably the only other inferior team Franklin has ever lost to in his 7 years was MSU once. MSU was usually highly ranked, but once they got us and weren't that good. That's about it, I can't remember Franklin routinely dropping bad losses. What I can say is that he mismanages games at critical moments against good team usually.

Does he rely too much on"analytics" instead of good old common sense?

@southern-psu-fan Losing to superior  players is one thing.  Losing because a coach making millions of dollars can't manage the clock or calls terrible plays is another.

@uscgbosn it’s 1 bad loss and who knows maybe Indiana has a pretty good team this year we’ll have to let the season play out. I thought the Minnesota loss last year was a garbage loss but it turned out Minnesota was pretty good and there was a BS call in that game just like the BS call this year. All I’m saying is we 99% of the time beat the teams we should and some act like we lose these games all the time and that’s not the case.

I would have said FNG. I hope someday Franklin retires after breaking Joe's longevity record. He seems to care about more than just football. This is a COLLEGE football team.

He may break JoePa's longevity record (although I doubt it), but he'll never break his record for wins!

Here is the problem....IMO.  NOBODY fears Penn State anymore.  There was a time when we all just went through the motions of playing games against teams that we JUST knew were exhibition warm up games.  NOW, teams like Indiana, Minny, MSU and MD ALL circle their dates with the LIONS as a game they are looking forward to as possible upset dates.  I guarantee you Rutgers is already looking ahead to the Penn State game.

Franklin needs to get this team respected again!!

@mtnittanylion these teams like Minnesota, Michigan State and Indiana have some good football players and they’re not scared of any team. Minnesota beat penn st and auburn last year. There’s not many gimme games anymore if you don’t come ready to play you’ll get licked as ole joe use to say. If I remember right didn’t Indiana take Ohio st in O/T a couple of years ago? You better come ready to play every game or you’ll get beat.

I think for game losses such as the Indiana game and others, players may make the mistake; fine, live and learn; however when the mistake is a subjective cause that could have been eliminated by simply taking the option way e.g. down the ball vs run the ball and make sure you stop on the one yard line, IMO that's a coaching screw up that should not happen. A previous poster said something to the effect a running back is taught and his goal is to score; asking him to stop at the one is stupid, he aint naturally wired that way and shouldn't be, so don't put him in that situation; Down the ball.

That's another record Franklin can't touch.  I don't know if JoePa could even come close to that one!
