What a Saturday it has been so far...The SEC is 0-2...Texas loses to OSU and Bama goes down by 2 scores in a game where they got dominated up front to FSU...I bet they don't drop Texas below #2 and they don't drop Bama below 15...But how can you say they are the premier conference when they keep losing these out of conference games? If Clemson beats LSU tonight they will be 0-3...I can't wait to see the new rankings when they come out...Remember everybody...Some losses are better than wins...
IMO a loss is absolutely never under any circumstance better than a win..just win!
They spent about 4 minutes during the college gameday show today trying to convince you that some losses are better than wins...Just remarkable to me...If LSU goes down to Clemson tonight ESPN is going to try and convince everybody that those losses were better than a lot of wins...absolutely remarkable to be honest with ya...just when ya thought you heard it all...smh
I'm sorry, but yeah losing to a top 10 team by 3 points demonstrates you're probably a better team than someone who barely beats an FCS team.IMO a loss is absolutely never under any circumstance better than a win..just win!
Some losses are better than wins. Yes, when we lost to Ohio State by 7 points last year that that was absolutely more impressive than Indiana beating up hapless MSU. As evidenced by OSU absolutely dismantling Indiana weeks later.
@roaminglion I’m saying a win is always better than a loss. I’d rather play bad and win than play good and find a way to lose. Just win!
Well yeah of course. What I am saying is I value a close fought loss against a very good team more than a tight win against a crappy one.@roaminglion I’m saying a win is always better than a loss. I’d rather play bad and win than play good and find a way to lose. Just win!
A wise man once said, "I don't believe in moral victories. They taste just as bad as what they are - a loss!"
@rip that was a very wise man RIP….i’ll still take the win regardless Roam 😂
@roaminglion that’s not what I’m saying, I’m saying I’d rather play Texas and look like shit winning than playing Texas looking like a NC team and found a way to lose. Winning is all that matters and ugly wins are the best because that means you found a way to win when you should’ve lost.
In 2011 we beat Indiana 16-10 and we played terrible that game and I remember David Jones saying he’d rather lose than win a game like that…not me, I’d rather find a way to win. Some folks would rather look good and lose than look bad and win which make no sense to me. Good teams find a way to win.
Yeah, you're missing the point of what I was saying.@roaminglion that’s not what I’m saying, I’m saying I’d rather play Texas and look like shit winning than playing Texas looking like a NC team and found a way to lose. Winning is all that matters and ugly wins are the best because that means you found a way to win when you should’ve lost.
"They spent about 4 minutes during the college gameday show today trying to convince you that some losses are better than wins"
My point was that yes, some losses are better than wins. Beating an FCS team doesn't look better than taking the #1 or #2 team in the country to OT and eventually losing. Anyone who thinks that team A beating Delaware State 17-16 proves more than team B losing to Ohio State in OT is just wrong. One team lost, another team won. I guarantee you no one is betting on team A to beat team B after those games.
I heard many on ESPN last year say our only two losses were to Oregon and OSU, and they were good losses. The point is the context/timing of the valid ESPN argument. I bet it had something to do with a SEC loss. You would have a hard time finding the same ESPN discussion related to a PSU loss.
'Good Loss' for me is a close game to someone ranked considerably above you.
AL - NOT
TX - NOT
VA TECH - Maybe
I mean... Texas lost a close game to the national champions, at their house, in the first game of the season.'Good Loss' for me is a close game to someone ranked considerably above you.
AL - NOT
TX - NOT
VA TECH - Maybe
No one thinks that is a bad loss.
