Let's see what happens to him, because he was just caught DEAD TO RIGHTS lying about his knowledge of domestic violence. The wife of his assistant kept detailed text messages with pictures talking about the violence with Urban's wife, and texts between her and Urban himself.

This is what proof looks like.

This PC crap is going too far. Not a fan of Urban but do not think the criticism is fair. It looks like if anyone has been around a person that did bad stuff, then trouble is all around.

He got caught lying and you're saying it isnt fair to criticize?  The man knew that his employee was beating on his wife, and chose to do nothing.  That doesn't sound like much of a man to me.  Urbie's going to be pulling the "heart-attack" stunt soon.

The man was caught red handed lying about knowing an assistant of his was beating up his wife. The wife now says she was pressured to stay quiet about it for years as well.

I have no idea what is "PC" about this, unless you are stuck in the 1920s

Sky,

Your post makes no sense. This has nothing to do with "PC CRAP". The Government, States an institutions of education including state run universities have rules and laws about Sexual assault, domestic violence etc... There is documented proof and pictures that the Meyer family knew about this abuse years ago and there is also video and audio proof of him saying he didn't know about it. There is also supposedly a text from another coaches wife stating Urban doesn't know what to think about the assault! HE LIED PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

Oh by the way, see the below link from Ohio State's Sexual Misconduct Policy 1.15 revised on 8/23/2016. Not good for old Urban!!

Ohio State moved quickly.  Meyer is now on paid administrative leave while they investigate.  Doesn't look good for him, considering all the indicators are that he knew and did nothing about it .  And by indicators, I mean like... Facts.

Texts, pictures, almost all the wives knew and said so.

So his only defense is that every wife on the team knew, his wife knew, but none of them told him or any coaches. Good luck with that defense.

Dang I didn't realize that "Shelley Meyer, Urban's wife and an instructor in Ohio State's College of Nursing" taught at the school, that makes her an employee and bound by the Ohio State Sexual Misconduct Policy 1.15 for reporting!!

So they will dismiss her and she will say the she never told Urb's so he didn't know.....

THIS ladies and gentlemen is what an actual cover up looks like.  proof. proof of the crime, proof of the cover up ...NONE of which did we see with sandusky and case overall.  do you guys realize that just ONE picture on that phone is more evidence than they brought against sandusky and the rest? amazing....and oh hey, LJ has to be like "wth???"   goes to OSU, and ACTUAL COVERUP happens and he STILL doesn't get named interim coach.....

My take on this is the reporting or non reporting, Joe did what was required of him and look what happened to him.  To quote our Mahanoy boy IF HE IS GUILTY run him out on a rail.

There's no doubt in my mind the Urbs will survive and be on the sideline 9/29/18 in State College.

I'm a little confused about this whole issue! Evidently there were two alleged incidents; 2009 and 2015. The first one charges were dropped and the second one charges were never filed due to a lack of evidence. So, what is really going on here? If Meyer is charged with a "cover-up" what did he cover -up if either charges were dropped or never filed?

It's weird that the 2015 police report would state that she was the victim of domestic abuse, and probably has sustained on going abuse, but nothing more was ever filed.

Yes no charges were ever filed but this is for criminal charges.  Civil charges are very different.

I think it's safe to say that we've crossed over to companies acting on civil evidence rather than criminal evidence.  The burden of proof in a civil case is much less, and it seems that the wife was repeatedly talked out of filing either criminal or civil charges against this man.

That all said, the decision of whether or not to keep Urban Meyer on staff is a PR issue. Whether or not he did anything illegal is immaterial to the fact that he lied to reporters when stating he knew about the incident. Ohio state is a major university, and in the current climate with #metoo and other movements towards women empowerment it would be hard for an academic institution to look the other way on that. the man knew of a domestic abuser and chose to do nothing and keep them on staff, that's bad.

No D1 wrestler would be sexually abused by a md.  Never would happen.  Period, the end.

He and his wife violated OSU policy for sexual assault and domestic violence. Plain and simple!

Right from Ohio State’s Sexual Misconduct Policy 1.15 revised on 8/23/2016.

Domestic violence

Conduct that would meet the definition of a felony or misdemeanor crime of violence committed by the complainant’s current or former spouse or intimate partner, a person with whom the complainant shares a child in common, a person who is or has cohabitated with the complainant as a spouse or intimate partner, or individual similarly situated to a spouse under domestic or family violence law, or anyone else protected under the domestic or family violence law of the jurisdiction in which the offense occurred. An individual need not be charged with or convicted of a criminal offense to be found responsible for domestic violence pursuant to this policy.

IV. Employee Duty to Report

C. All university employees, except those exempted by legal privilege of confidentiality or expressly identified as a confidential reporter, have an obligation to report incidents of sexual assault. Any employee who receives a disclosure of a sexual assault or becomes aware of information that would lead a reasonable person to believe that a sexual assault may have occurred involving anyone covered under this policy, must report all known information immediately. D. In addition to the requirement of reporting incidents of sexual assault, the following members of the university community have an additional obligation to report all other incidents of sexual misconduct, when they receive a disclosure of sexual misconduct or become aware of information that would lead a reasonable person to believe that sexual misconduct may have occurred involving anyone covered under this policy. These individuals must report the incident within five work days of becoming aware of such information: 1. Any human resource professional (HRP); 2. Anyone who supervises faculty, staff, students, or volunteers; 3. Chair/director; and 4. Faculty member.

I agree with your post with one exception. It's not the plaintiff who files criminal charges, it's the DA's office.

You know what I think? Nothing will come out of this . Rumor has it ,this whole story of Meyer knowing was created by a ESPN worker that was fired from his job. The story was created on his Facebook page and the media jumped allover it. Don't worry though, OSU will still pound the Nittany lions once again and throw them around like rag dolls.  They won't need Meyer to do it. Let the NCAA finish the investigation.
