Could this be the next OC at PSU if Rahne takes the head job at Old Dominion?

I think Tyler Bowen will be in the mix but would love to go after Clemson Co-Offensive coordinator Tony Elliot...

I'd like to see a guy come in that has already been a head coach rather than someone looking to springboard to become a head coach.  There are some great offensive minded coaches out there that did the whole head coaching thing, but grew tired of all the aspects of the job that aren't X's and O's related and want to get back to the trenches so to speak.  Like a great mechanic that ends up owning and running his own garage but regrets never getting grease on his hands anymore do to all the new responsibilities of the job.

I'd like to know what head coaches you know of that "got tired of being head coach" and went back to being a coordinator. All the ones that come to mind were fired from head coaching and got an OC gig.

Ideally someone like Chris Peterson - but it's looking like he will be doing something with the AD at Washington, but you never know~.

A good firing is a way to rededicate yourself at what you are good at !  The job of a head coach deals with so many non-football related tasks - most don't have what it takes to be successful doing this, so whether they step down voluntarily and get fired, a true offensive mastermind is what I'd like to see come to PSU

I would NOT have switched PSUs offense with Washington's this year or last...

@cohappy

That would be my Christmas wish, but I can't see it happening.
