Wonder how our boy Tsuga is doing. Haven't heard from him in awhile.
yes, thought the same. I think his grandson would have posted if something was wrong.

Cmon FD, you should know by know he's a cheap date - never shows!
He’s doing fine, been keeping busy. I have communication with him outside of the Nit board. Just corresponded with him within the last week or 2.
thanks for update Navylion. And by the way, thanks titan for bringing it up on the board. I believe your sincerety for tsuga.
Mu guess is he hibernates during the summer and wakes during Buck Season!
Thanks for the update!
@mtnittanylion Actually he has been guiding people on the river up there. I was concerned cause he hadn't been on here and I haven't heard from him in a while. He's been keeping pretty busy. He said to tell everyone he'll be back before the start of the season.

Im doing well FT. I appreciate your post and everybody that showed concern. Its been a busy summer. I was asked to guide raft/canoe trips down the Allagash river and also on the Kennebec. If you ever get the chance, I'd highly recommend the Kennebec river trip. It takes you past a small town known as "The Forks" (2 rivers merge there hence the name). The Forks has a population of 27, it was 30 but a family of three recently moved out of the area. I have a camp right along the Kennebec in The Forks and I love the peace and solitude that surrounds it. Through out the weeks I've been out scouting moose and black bear as those seasons will soon be upon us. Seeing a lot of GOOD bulls up here, mostly 45's and 50's but a few are easily going to go over 60.
I havent been at our home too much this year; mostly to go there to get the mail and pay the bills. We lost internet for over a month so that hampered my attempts to muster in and be present and accounted for. I have been jumping on here from time to time, just havent had a chance to respond to anything. I did get a kick out of Joe Masten/PSUJOE/Remoh getting his dick handed to him by '99 in regards to recruiting. that one put a smile on my face for sure.
Went down to PA a few weeks back to see how my place in Tioga county is holding up. The heat and humidity chased my wrinkly butt back up to Maine. BT.....I did get a chance to take the g-kids up to Letchworth State Park.....beautiful place. I did get yelled at for getting into the river and cooling off. I saw signs saying that we werent permitted to go into the river but who knew they were serious??
Lake: Thekid's sons watched every minute of DT's wrestling at the Olympics. They even refer to him as "Uncle Dave". Pretty exciting stuff. Dont know if you heard or not but Jordon Conaway's father passed on July 4th. They broke the mold when they made him; he was on hell of a good man.
My take on the Wisconsin game?? We got to get a big lead early and force Whiskey to throw the ball to stay in the game. If they run on us, I'm afraid our D-line is gonna buckle. Im gonna be the eternal optimist and say we'll be undefeated going into the OSU game.

Glad to hear from you. I've been busy too. So much to do in such little time. Looking forward to next week for start of H.S. football and college ball. Also looking forward to Fall, my favorite season. Mushrooms will be out in a few weeks so it's time to hit the Appalachian trail on Saturday mornings. The trail I take is all hill and it's a bast***erd to climb. NY upstate trip is on the list. Just don't know when. Hopefully in October. Thinking Niagara falls, Pulaski.
Greetings Tsuga!!! It is great to hear from you and to know that you are active and well...I agree with your take on the Wisky game...I am afraid of their offensive line taking control of this game...Penn State needs to score early and often to put the pressure on them to throw the ball...If they let Wisky start the ground and pound they are in trouble...We are gonna learn a lot about this ballclub after the first 3 games...Stay well my friend and keep in touch...
@tsuga Well, look who came up for air! Nice to see ya back! Ya know, if you'd have remembered to take care of your internet provider, when you were home paying bills, they wouldn't have shut your internet off.
Damn, wish I'd have known you were coming through. If you came or went on the Thruway/I 90, you were within 15 min of my humble home. Coulda met you at the Weedsport DD for coffee and filled the grandkids up on mocha lattes so they could keep you awake on the rest of your ride home....that or having to stop for pee breaks, either one works.
Yep, Letchworth is pretty, pretty. Way nicer when the leaves change, but that's hunting season for you. You picked a good time to see it, w/ the borders closed, you didn't have all the bus loads of Canadians to deal with. haha You just have to get a little farther away from the beaten path/rangers to go wading in the Genesse river. Did you walk out on the RR trestle? Got some real nice pics from up there. Li'l Suzie was having kittens about me going out on it.
Hey, got a new toy for my tractor, a Wicked Root Grapple. Still working on getting it hooked up hydraulically, heading out for hoses and fittings as soon as this damn rain lets up, so I can measure one more time. (story of my life)
Keep your powder dry!
@forum-titan If you're heading to Pulaski, bring your bug dope. Deer flies are still trying to airlift you back into the woods to eat you alive and w/ all the rain we've been having, the mosquitoes are reaching their peak. It's mid Aug, deer flies should be coming to an end soon.
If you do make it up, let me know if you want to cast some spinners for Salmon river smallies. No salmon yet, so the crazy tourists haven't moved in either. But there are occasional B1G football browns in some of the deeper pools. With all the rain the water should be cool enough for them to bite. Serious offer, if you're interested. lol I'll even bring the smokeable bug repellent, although I'm sure they wouldn't measure up to the fine cigars that FD may have purveyed.
@been-there-ii: We came up from PA to go to Letchworth. Drove up 36 thru Canisteo. When travelling to PA, The fastest way is to head south on 95 and then hit 495 to the mass pike and take that all the way to Albany. Then 88 to 86 to route 15(99). I'e NEVER been on the mass pike when there's not a wreck or a back up of some kind. I head over to New Hampshire...right past Mt Washington......snake over to Vermont and go into Albany that way and hit 88 and 86.
So did your hose measure up??
I'm pretty sure we werent allowed to go on the RR trestle. I'm thinking I saw signs prohibiting that but could be wrong.
Turns out my internet was nothing more than replacing our dish.
I've got 3 more guided trips down the Allagash and I'll be thru for the season. I honest to God dont know how some of the "city folk" would survive on their own out there. Even the simple stuff comes hard for them, I'm talking about stuff like pitching a tent and rolling up a sleeping bag. But hey, the tips are good!!!

I miss good old PA high school football. Not much to speak of up here in Maine. There's HS football, just not quite the caliber that you guys have down there. Are you looking for the magic mushrooms or the cooking ones?? I go out and collect chaga mushrooms. They grow primarily on birch (yellow) and are a good source for vitamins. They also slow the aging process and help with cancer. My better half makes a tea out of it and I start my day with a cup.
As you get older, you're gonna find those hills get steeper and steeper. Be careful on the AT. If you dont know the area, carry a compass and a topo map.
I'm gonna attach a story of a woman that got lost up her and paid for her mistake with her life. She was a thru hiker and left the trail to take a dump and got lost. I wouldnt call myself an expert tracker but I'm pretty damned good at it. We couldnt find her. Anyway, read the story. Its rather sad.

I pick Yellow stumpers, brown stumpers also known as honey mushrooms and rams head. I give most away to the folks I know who eat them. I like to go for more of the fun of it. They are good with steak. Rams head , you usually bread them like you wood with fish. I'm familiar with the surroundings and keep on course. I always go prepared. Drinks, water and snacks. LED, Lenser headlight. Matches and everything else needed just in case. I always pack when I go and carry. You never know. I had few occurrences where I ran into a coyotes but they usually run away. I've heard of close run ins with bobcats. Actually, one bobcat stalked and followed a guy. It's a busy trail so I don't worry so much.

I'm not an avid everyday hiker. It's about 2 miles up and 2 miles back. I don't use hiking poles.

I typically go down 15 when I head "home" too. Mass Pike is always a mess. When I was doing my weekend commute while working in NH, I'd get on the pike at Worcester. Even with snow on the road, they wanted to drive 75. Don't mind driving in the snow, but 75 is white knuckling for me when it's icy.
Yep, hoses worked out just fine. lol After he screwed them up. I showed him the hose set up for the grapple. Explained to him I wanted everything the same, 3/8" pipe thread on both ends and all 3/8" quick disconnects and en extra set to replace the ones on the original hose. (yep, OCD) I get home put male couplings on ends of both hoses. Grabbed the other end to start threading on the other couplings and it's 1/2". When I went back, told him I thought we had "a failure to communicate", I had asked everything 3/8... He says "Oh. Well I was trying to match up the 1/2" that was on the hoses you brought in. Moral is, it never hurts to have a little extra hose, just in case you have to go the extra couple inches!
Oh hell no! You're not allowed on the trestle. However, they should know Jarheads can't read "No Trespassing" signs. Not sure I'd want to be up there when the freight train was crossing though. They may have blocked it off better now. Back then, there was a very well worn trail up to the tracks to walk out on it.
Sounds almost like the movie City Slickers. More power to ya! I'm not sure I could play babysitter for very long, good tips or not. The float trip sounds like fun though. How was the fishing?
OOOH RAH!
