This one is not surprising, as soon as I saw he was not participating in spring practices it indicated he wasn't coming back. Then the coaching staff said he wouldn't be ready for the beginning of the season, and it became clear he wasn't going to be a big part of the team this year.

Anyone check on what kind of pension plan Franklin has for "retired" players? It must one heck of a plan!! Also, when did college football players start retiring from playing instead of just quit playing? On the same note, when HS players stop playing football are they also "retiring" or do they just "quit" playing.
I believe they get to stay on scholarship but they don't count towards the 85. So, their education is paid for as long as they remain in good standing.
I suspect if they stop playing in high school they just quit.
