1. McSorley continues to be the man, just unphased whatever happened.
2. WRs have some ball drills to do. I know it was raining, but the drops are piling up. Last week it was just Johnson, but this week it spread. McSorley was more like 21-30 instead of 14-30.
3. Hamler wasn't a flash in the pan, he's going to be dangerous all year. However, for our passing attack to be truly solid we need Johnson to stop dropping passes, and a legitimate option on the other side like Shorter.
4. Will Fries is our starting RT, he's better than Wright. Glad they finally settled and rolled with Fries.
5. I'd like to see more Miles Sanders, I know the backups are good too but Sanders is really good. Also, more north/south style runs, his strength is inside... not outside runs.
6. Givens is a difference maker. His penetration and presence in the middle can cause issues for the opposing team and open up avenues for other lineman to get upfield as well.
7. Young DE's need to get better at containing the QB, but they made big improvement from week 1.
8. Parsons should be the starting WILL LB. The Koa Farmer experiment has been going on too long, he's just not Parsons. He wasn't all that good last year either. Parsons made a good leap from last game.
9. Jesse Luketa certainly seems like "the guy" who will be the entrenched MLB for the next few years. The only question seems to be when the starting role is given over to him.
10. Secondary looks solid to me, sometimes you just have a bad game and run into a good QB. Seems like that happened last week. App State had two Kansas State WR transfers too, they were a good crew.
11. Special teams looked solid. Even in the rain, Pinegar looked unphased, only barely missing a 45 yarder. Not an easy kick in driving rain and wind.
Biggest defensive concern: For me, it's the LBs. Personally I'd just roll the dice with Parsons/Luketa/Brown for the next two games and let them learn with some on the job training. We have the opportunity to do so against Kent State and Illinois, so why not take it and get the freshman the reps they need. Our LBs have to get better before OSU.
Biggest offensive concern: Consistency. The offense still seems a big sluggish at times with drops and negative plays, mostly due to mental errors. Need to clean it up. Johnson with the drops is another form of mental errors. Also, Johnson and Hamler need someone in the 3rd WR position to take over. If Shorter can do so, we get mismatch issues all over the field that no team can deal with.
I believe Roam if they’ll keep Sanders in we’ll do better on 3rd downs. I’d like for Sanders to get 25 touched a game. I like watching James Franklin get after these guys when they made mistakes lol. And people think he doesn’t have control lol. I think with Moorhead he just let him control the offense because Moorhead was so dang good and that’s exactly what he should’ve done. Going forward you’ll see the James Franklin we seen last night. That was a fun game last night!
GIVE BOOBIE THE DAMN BALL ! And get the freshman in the game if JJ can't catch it!!
Yes... I think Shorter is nursing an injury but hopefully we will see him soon
Exactly Southern, I would like him to get 20-25 a night as well.
