True sports journalism is really dead. Yeah, I get that we are on here talking about rumors and "I heard this"... but reporters are doing that too.

They quite obviously are just throwing anything against the bulletin board and seeing what sticks. It's gone from "I have vetted sources and verified facts" to "well that makes sense to me so I'll print it"

These guys haven't a damn clue what they are talking about.

For Kraft not to release one ounce of information is a little concerning. You'd think he would at least come out and say if things are going well or tell us if they're close to signing the guy. He better be pulling a rabbit out of his hat or he's most likely gonna be fired.

Get Rich Quick scheme:

Open a Sports Forum, charge $25 per month, claim to be an "Insider" with information not available to the average Joe, when as asked to divulge this insider information - claim that it would: 1. Upset a delicate process or that 2.  The powers that be asked me not to say anything yet.

Then $ 25 for next month please, $cha ching"

I think that is all part of the plan...They have a guy signed and are waiting for the appropriate time to announce out of respect for the new guy...I just find it all but impossible to believe that they fired Franklin mid season only to be still looking for a new HC the first week of December...I don't believe that...If they did then all of em should be fired and the money guys are really stupid morons too for allowing this to go on...I don't think the money guys are stupid morons and I have my trust and faith in them having this under control...

At this point, I'm willing to say there is no coach signed, and there's a lot of hope and prayer of getting a high profile coach after conference or playoff games.

If there is a current conference or playoff guy signed, there is no reason not to announce; the current school is either going to let them finish out the season or not; no big deal in today's game. And, imo, the honesty would set the stage for current players, incoming recruits and portal transfers.

Don’t get your hopes up there’s a coach because ain’t nobody this stupid to wait this long. Go try and get Manny and stop the bleeding because he will keep the PennSt guys and whoever else deserves to be retained and he can bring the few Duke players with him that’s good enough to play at Penn State and the players there now will be happy with Manny he’s coached some of ‘em. That’s the best option but I’m good with Harline or Terry as well but it will be harder to win next year with ‘em. Manny by far is the best option. It will make the AD’d pick easy if Manny wins the ACC but he’s at least in the ACC championship game. Thank Jesus the BYU coach turned it down.

Fitz=Perennial 6 game/yr winner.

PSU has now become the Auburn of the SEC, the old MSU of the Big 10, the UCLA of the Pac, and the new NE.

Talk about a shit show!

Hey, does any board member in the know, know if Pat is getting shitcanned if there really wasn’t an inked deal in hand for a new HC?

One last thought: unless it TS, they are gonna pay through the nose for the next hire with a massive buyout if its a high profile hire.

Pat better have some kick ass high dollar concerts and pilgrimages lined up to pay for the stadium expansion.

@southern-psu-fan At this point it very well may be Manny, considering he's coaching in the ACC Championship

If they end up hiring one of these 2nd rate guys that means they had no plan which to me says fire the whole lot of these incompetent idiots...I refuse to believe the money people involved didn't have a coach lined up and in waiting PRIOR to firing Franklin...I can't imagine the people at the top from a booster standpoint like Pegula and others would not have a plan in place...I just refuse to believe that...I am going to stand by my belief that they have a guys already signed and ready...

I'm not sure why waiting 2 months to ask the BYU coach to sign a contract is proof he was their first choice?

@roaminglion that’s probably true but he's been their choice for the last few weeks if the articles on pennlive are true. Elko was probably their first choice I don’t believe DeBeor was ever a choice for him because I don’t believe he’s leaving Alabama. I hope he does and we get him on the way tho he look today

I don't think the guy from BYU was ever considered for the job...Whoever they want they already have signed...If that isn't the case then Kraft and all of the so called "Idiot Trust" should be fired IMMEDIATELY...I find it hard to believe that the guy they want is already hired...I guess we will see...

I have no other explanation for this Southern...I refuse to believe these guys didn't have a plan and a guy already in place before they fired Franklin mid season...If they are indeed still looking for a coach at this juncture they need to fire the whole lot of them...I don't have faith in Kraft but I have a lot of faith in the money guys and I just refuse to believe that the money guys didn't have this thing nailed down from the beginning...If in fact they don't have a candidate at this juncture line up they need to fire all of them...

Media is kind of reporting it is a cluster f, but they know nothing.

BOB came out of nowhere so...

I hope PK doesn't panic and give away the farm to save his skin.  Worst case he spins an opportunity for PSU History and Smith and continues the search...

@underlion Speaking of BO'B, he had a pretty good season last year. This year, he beat SU and that's about it.
