@roaminglion that’s your opinion because you don’t know what they’ll do the one thing I do know for a fact is we’ve seen the big 10 champs sit at home and watch the playoffs 2 times the last five years. The committee says they want the 4 best teams in the country and I agree with that but the problem is they’re taking the 4 best teams with the best record not necessarily the 4 best teams and I got proof, we were clearly the best team in the big 10 in 2016 we won the big 10 and beat Ohio State on the field but because we had 2 losses they wanted Ohio St instead of Penn St. it’s not about the best 4 team, it’s about who has the best record. They knew Ohio St wasn’t better than Penn St because they knew we beat ‘em and they knew we got better they just didn’t want a 2 loss team in the playoffs..period
You don't have any proof, Penn State lost 2 games in 2016 and I have consistently said "a 1 loss PSU / OSU".
If anyone has proof, it's me. The committee HAS NEVER left a 1 loss champion from ANY POWER CONFERENCE out of the playoff by selecting a 1 loss runner up from the SEC. NEVER.... IT. HAS. NEVER. HAPPENED.
Alabama got into the playoff because Ohio State had 2 losses (One horrible loss to Iowa) and USC had 2 losses (one horrible loss to ND). Either of those team have only 1 loss, they were getting in and Alabama would have been left out. Had Wisconsin beat Ohio State in the BTC, Wisky was in and Alabama was out. Period.
Yes, a 3-3 Wisconsin team. ND is still #14 with only one loss.
Look, do I think Cincy will have the resume needed to make the playoffs? No, not even close to the other current top 10 teams. The only team I am concerned about is Penn State and how do they make it w/o Clifford....which the longer this goes on, the more concerned I am getting. We can debate this all night long, but I believe Penn State would have "schooled" Iowa had Clifford not got injured. Illinois would have been another practice game and I TRULY believe Penn State would have taken care of business in the Shoe!
I am just hoping that Roberson cut his teeth at Iowa, get's two weeks of good practice in and he looks good against Illinois if he does get the nod. I think Ohio State has done a great job since the loss against Oregon, but then again, let's take a deep look at their last 4 games....not exactly top tier wins. I am putting a lot of faith in Yurcich, I think he can have Roberson ready for Ohio State if this is where this goes.
GO STATE!
I think Cincy is every bit as good as Alabama...Alabama got beat by a mediocre at best A&M team and almost lost to another mediocre team in Florida...I don't think the SEC is that good this year...Why is Bama ranked ahead of Michigan and Michigan State? Or Oklahoma State for that matter? Why is Bama ranked ahead of Ohio State? Penn State or Oregon? All of them are 1 loss teams who lost to ranked teams not to a 2 loss unranked team? The truth is these rankings don't mean much to the B1G teams as a 1 loss B1G champ gets in...It does however mean something to a team like Oregon who should get in if they end up a 1 loss conference champ ahead of any 1 loss SEC team that ISN'T a conference champ...The bias is obvious...
@the-funeral-director come on FD, do you really believe Cincinnati can play with Alabama? Ain’t happening brother. Just go check and see when the last time Cincinnati beat Ohio State. I remember you saying Cincinnati would be Georgia last year in the bowl game and Georgia set out 7 starters and still beat Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a good football team but a big time lightweight when it come to playing Alabama or Ohio St.
@mtnittanylion brother, if Clifford is out for the year we ain’t going to the playoffs we’ll probably finish 10-3 maybe 9-4 which is still pretty good with a backup QB. I’m quite confident the defense will step up and play better they just had a bad game against Iowa.
@southern-psu-fan Cliffy probably isn't out for the year or Franklin would have said as much. That said, we don't know when he'll be back and if he'll be 100% when he does.
I fully expect Clifford to sit out the Illinois game and play the rest of the way out...I really expect Penn State to win out the rest of the way and play for the national title...They are as good if not better than any team in the country...
