I have no problem with the way the season started but am not gullible enough to believe this team is anywhere close to top 3 nor do I believe the schedule has been tough.

Wisconsin and auburn would beat Iowa St and that the only team with a pulse that Iowa’s beat. Clemson has 2 losses now so they’re in the same boat as Wisconsin. Georgia beat Clemson 10-3 so why shouldn’t Penn St be ranked 2nd or 3rd we deserve it just as much as anybody else does. I dropped Penn St to 3rd this week because Georgia’s win against Vanderbilt was better than ours.

You're tough Southern, but I must agree.  I'm afraid the AP & Coaches may drop us more than that.

I am amused by the pontification that goes on regarding our wins vs the other highly ranked teams wins...Georgia beat a Clemson team who just lost to NC State...Alabama hasn't played anybody and I don't wanna hear about Florida...They beat Tennessee yesterday and how good is Tennessee? It is obvious Auburn had a hangover and overlooked their opponent yesterday and appears to have a QB controversy on their hands...talking about Vanderbilt being a better win is laughable...I told all of you A&M wasn't any good and they proved it yesterday...Arkansas is on par with Wisky in my mind...I also believe that Notre Dame/Wisky game would have been a whole different story had that ballgame been played at Camp Randall instead of Soldier Field...You still don't have Oregon in your top 5...That is a joke...Only unbeaten teams belong in the top 5 and Florida ain't one of em...I am not sure I put Notre Dame there either...I would have Bama, Georgia, Penn State, Iowa and Oregon in my top 5 in no particular order as I don't see any real difference between them...Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Cincy and Oklahoma would finish my top 10...As far as conference strength is concerned the B1G eastern division is hands down the toughest division in college football and the B1G is the best conference from what I have seen so far...

@the-funeral-director Alabama is clearly the best team as of today. You like Oregon and I like Florida, we agree on the others. Oregon ain’t fared to good against SEC teams FD the SEC is 18-6-1 and there’s a reason why. Florida would give them a beat down they just don’t have the athletes to compete.  The Tide had a rough time down in the swamp brother and they have the best athletes in college football and that’s not debatable if you go by the recruiting rankings stars. Stars matter baby. Ole southern is a big believer in the recruiting rankings.

What is the SECs record out of conference THIS year against power 5 teams? I know LSU got beat by UCLA, Auburn lost to Penn State and Mississippi State lost to Memphis State...Georgia beat a mediocre at best Clemson team...I ain't sold...

@the-funeral-director   That’s this year and I agree with you the only thing I’m saying is Alabama, Georgia and Florida are very good. You might be right, this might be a down year for the SEC time will tell.

Why isnt Pitt in this conversation??  After all, they did just stomp a perennial powerhouse in New Hampshire 77-7.  Trailer parks all over western Pa are rocking in celebration this weekend.

The ranking are supposed to be rankings for THIS YEAR not the last decade! Once again your way of thinking is exactly what's wrong with CFB.

@the-funeral-director  This year Alabama, Georgia and Florida are 3 very good football teams. These 3 teams are probably going to be the teams to beat for the NC.

@tsuga That explains why they can't fill the seats at Heinz Stadium, not enough expendable income.

Much improved from last year.  However,  I still feel that little dark cloud still lingers with some questions on offense runninggame.  It's possible to lose 3 games from here on out. Indiana is only a 11 point dog. Michigan looks pretty good this year.

I'm missing your point. What's Indiana "only" getting 11 points with the spread, have anything to do with winning or losing? Win by one, still goes in the W column last I knew.

Mine fire in Centralia always flares up this time of year and the gasses are known to drift uphill to Aristes. He'll make less and less sense as the season goes on.

@psujoe Makes absolute sense! If he sniffs enough of those noxious gasses, catches a good buzz, he can be the Oracle of Centralia.

The man with a metal detector sounds off again. Making trips to to the strip mines of the coal region,  the most depressed area. Looking for the peel off  beer tabs from the 70s. Tell me what you found of value ? Nothing but junk metal. Did you winterize your fishing boat.

I hate to have to agree with you Pipe but Penn State could lose to Iowa, Ohio State, Rutgers, Michigan, Maryland and Michigan State if they don't show up ready to play...There are no patsies in this division other than Indiana and you better come ready to play them too as they ain't gonna lay down...Penn State has a target on their backs as they are the team to beat in this conference...Do I feel they should win all of these games...YES I DO!!! HOWEVER it is quite the gauntlet and they certainly can't afford any mental letdowns...The physical toll is going to be brutal...I hope They can get up early on Indiana and put them away to give the starters a breather as well...This is the toughest schedule in the country and if they can navigate this they certainly have to be one of the favorites to win this thing...They have to stay healthy...Odds say they lose at least 1 and possibly 2 but I have a feeling about this bunch...I think they have a real good shot to pull it off...

They can!  As of today, I just don't see any other team in the Big10 that is just down right better than Penn State.  And this is not to say Penn State is great.  When I look at let's say Ohio State.  If you look at what both teams need to improve on, Penn State has the advantage here.  I don't see Ohio State keeping Penn State under 28 points and I don't see Ohio State putting up 28 points on this defense.

Iowa?  This is going to be a good game.  Again, I just don't see Iowa scoring a bundle of points.  I think this game is going to be similar to Wisconsin.  Penn State will catch them sleeping and score a couple of long TD's.  The rest of the game?  I think they both duke it out and Penn State wins the passing game giving them a 7 or 10 point win.

Got to get through Indiana first! They say they don't believe in a revenge game?  Yeah, I beg to differ on that statement! They are not going to want a close game, they will come out firing on all cylinders and keep this game out of reach by half! Don't need any 4th quarter drama and I don't think it will come down to that.  Penn State by 21 or more!  They want to make last year look like a fluke and they will!

GO STATE!
