I figured everyone would want to see this regardless of opinions about him being banned……bout time imo…man he was good!
I think he belongs in the hall of fame as long as they mention that he bet on baseball.
The man 100 percent belongs in the HOF and not making him eligible while he was alive is sick and disgusting. The steroid Bros are the ones that should have been banned for life and all their stats and records erased for eternity.
Yeah, betting was against the rules. But not like he was betting on his team to lose, so not like he was throwing the game.
I just think we need to not cover up the bad and blow the good out of proportion. Just be honest. By the way the opposite of my first sentence is just as bad. People do bad things and make mistakes. They should be appropriately punished but it should not wipe out their accomplishments.
@psugrad81 you’re right, rules are the rules just saying he’s wasn’t losing games he was betting on his team to win. Had Pete been losing games on purpose because he had money on the other teams I would be for banning him for life.
Kicking him out of the game as a coach would’ve been enough but banning him from baseball and the HOF for what he did was just to much imo.
So he said, and he wasn't exactly trustworthy at that point when he said he only bet to win.Yeah, betting was against the rules. But not like he was betting on his team to lose, so not like he was throwing the game.
Anyways, yes put him in and put a plaque up that says he was an amazing player who disgraced the game by gambling on it as a manager
@roaminglion I don’t believe I’ve ever met anybody that really cared if Pete rose or any other player or coach bets on sports as long as they’re not fixing games to lose. I believe it was investigated and there was no proof he was throwing games. I guess it could lead to throwing games if gambling was allowed and that’s why it’s against the rules but keeping the best baseball player of all time out of the HOF was just wrong imo. I didn’t have a problem with kicking him out as a coach. I couldn’t stand Pete Rose when he was playing because he always killed the Braves but my god he was good the best I’ve ever seen to this day.
