These guys have stepped their game up. I’m a very forgiving person if something is working and it looks to me that Pry has the defense back to playing good because these last 2 games they’ve been gettin after the QB and gettin to the ball. Rutgers has been good on offense all year long and we shut them down the TD they got the QB just threw it up and they fortunately caught it. Maybe the offense was wearing down the defense with all the turnovers and 3 and outs. Let’s see how they do these last 2 hopefully 3 games and I’m sure we’ll get a better feel where we are. Gotta give pry some love though because they’ve been killing it.
Maybe he was starting to feel some heat and figured he better do his job!

My only comment is, look at the competition before giving some love. There is a huge difference in going all in when there is nothing to lose and the competition is inferior vs doing the same with the big boys; gets back to winning when you should and falling apart when you shouldn't. Tendencies generally reflect a pretty clear pattern; its gonna be what it is meant to be.
IMO, player development is the biggest concern that this program has and that starts with player evaluations by coaches and then the development/coaching itself. I ain't to impressed with much of anything these days but I admit I'm just an armchair observer who believes a lot of skilled HS players could make the same call.
@psu61. Go look at their schedule and you’ll see Rutgers has put some points up every game except against Penn State. If we could’ve s ores the points Rutgers has we’d be undefeated they just can’t stop anybody. They put up 27 against Ohio st and we flat shut them down. I understand what you’re saying though it is Rutgers.

I think you also have to take the weather into consideration Southern. The gale force winds made both teams pretty one-dimensional.
The defense did look better but I’ve seen far too many bad patterns throughout the years, and even worse during this season, to allow a game against Rutgers in crazy winds to make me think the defense has figured it out.
the Defense has always had stretches of greatness under Pry but they have been far more consistent in giving up scores late, making average quarterbacks look great and not being able to get off the field in third down.
I’ve seen very little this season to make me think those issues have gone away as much as I’d like them to.
Interesting video focusing on PJ and Shelton vs. Rutgers. I agree with you on the weather, Cravens, but Penn State's defensive front four has really dominated the line of scrimmage the last two games -- an aspect of play that's really independent of whatever the weather is. Didn't see that vs. Maryland, Ohio State and definitely Iowa. The thing that makes absolutely no sense to me is why we can't get sacks without bringing extra dudes? As much as Penn State caved in Rutgers O-Line, we still only got two sacks...one from a corner blitz and one from a true freshman in garbage time.
