I was reading their press releases on how teams would be selected, and came across the initial public statement/document they issued a while back, it reads:

College Football Playoff Selection Committee Protocol

1. Mission. The committee’s task will be to select the best teams, rank the teams for inclusion in the
playoff and selected other bowl games and then assign the teams to sites.

2. Principles. The committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise
comparable teams by considering:
* Conference championships won,
* Strength of schedule,
* Head-to-head competition,
* Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
* Other relevant factors such as key injuries that may have affected a team’s performance during
the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

So here's the breakdown of each stated criteria to seperate "similar" teams. Not overall record or being undefeated wasn't mentioned:

  • Conference champs... 1-5 all had one
  • Strength of Schedule... FSU's was worst
  • Head-to-head... Texas ranked ahead of Bama for that reason
  • Comparative outcomes... Both Alabama and FSU beat LSU by 14+, and both did so after taking the lead mid third quarter. Very similar games.
  • Key injuries... FSU QB injured, backups didn't look good

I hate to say it because I'd have put FSU in... but the committee did EXACTLY what they said they would do.

So over all record isn’t mentioned, right? Beating a team on the field and winning the conference championship was mentioned and they left us out! It’s a BS scam committee that puts all that shit in there so they can always have an excuse to get in who they want. You just said overall record isn’t mentioned so there you go.

How did they explain OSU and Cardale Jones??  I get what you're saying but in my opinion, what they did stinks.

Again, you just look at the criteria you want and dismiss the others. "Comparative outcomes" was also listed as was strength of schedule. This is what it looked like in 2016 for all five criteria, not just the ones you want to point to:

  • Conference champs - PSU>OSU
  • Strength of Schedule - OSU>PSU
  • Head-to-head - PSU>OSU
  • Comparative outcomes - OSU>PSU
  • Key injuries - PSU=OSU

It's tied 2-2. OSU's strength of schedule was much better than ours in 2016. They were #6 and we were #34, as they beat #5 Oklahoma and we lost to Pittsburgh. Not even close.

Comparative outcomes... this is the one that buried us. They beat Michigan, we lost to Michigan by 39 points.

I posted all the criteria, but all you saw were 2 of the 5 that favored PSU. It's quite simple, had we not get hammered by Michigan, we would have been in. We lost, badly... so they took Ohio State who's only loss was by a fluke blocked FG. Would I have left us out? No, but again they did do what they said they would do. It is what it is

@roaminglion I saw 2 of the top 3. Had Alabama lost to auburn they would’ve put Georgia in they already knew they weren’t going to keep the SEC out. Paul Finebaum even admits it. Y’all better understand that the only way Penn St gets in the playoffs if we are undefeated..period. One loss and we will not get  in the 12 team playoffs because if any of the sacred cow teams have one loss they’ll take them and they’ve proved it over the years.

They aren't listed in any order, it's just 5 criteria. The first one isn't "higher" than the last one. That's why they didn't number them.

No they haven't proved it, I just proved your premise wrong because it was 2-2 in 2016 and we got hammered 49-10 by Michigan. Here's another thing that proves it was the Michigan loss that kept us out... Ohio State lost 1 game in 2018 to Purdue, and got left out because they were curb stomped in it.

@roaminglion so TCU had all better criteria than Alabama last year? Them criteria is in case the teams don’t play each other but when the teams play each other and the team that wins and wins the conference championship overrides all the other crap and I heard the committee say that when they put this crsp together. They don’t don’t sit down and go all over that crap because if they did TCU and Cincinnati wouldn’t have got in. There’s a reason these crooks don’t want a true playoff system.

You do realize that people on the committe change every year right? If you were on the comittee this year, would you like to be yelled at and called a crook because someone else voted differently 5 years ago in a different situation?

FFS so many people are conspiracy theorists.

BTW... you are bringing up TCU as if they lost to Michigan. Why arent you talking about them? They lost, TCU won.

@roaminglion  Roam, you heard ESPN and other sports shows saying that the CFP committee can’t leave the SEC champs out so it’s not like they’re trying to Hyde anything they just put up every criteria there is and say this is why we did it. Reading all them criteria’s gives them every excuse there is to put teams in. I mean beating teams on the field and winning conference championships don’t even hold weight.

So don't tell me you aren't a conspiracy theorist when you are fully describing a conspiracy. LMAO

“I am disgusted and infuriated with the committee’s decision today to have what was earned on the field taken away because a small group of people decided they knew better than the results of the games. What is the point of playing games?” Florida State coach Mike Norvell said.

He added: “What happened today goes against everything that is true and right in college football. A team that overcame tremendous adversity and found a way to win doing whatever it took on the field was cheated today. It’s a sad day for college football.

i really feel bad for Florida St man. It just flat stinks. Smh
