Trouble is, unless the signal is encrypted, the opposing team can "tune in". When I was doing the Marine Corps/NSA thing, for shits & grins, we'd listen to cell phone conversations. And that was.....44 yrs ago! I'm sure there's been advancements made since then and seems anyone can buy what you need to do the eaves dropping.

I believe the helmet communication is heavily encrypted, at least it is in the NFL. I'd assume they will do the same in college.
