Every bowl game played on Jan 1st is ranked except penn state.  They stuck Pitt and MSU on Thursday December 30th. Then you have 2 unranked opponents playing on January 4th. Scratching my head

Pitt and MSU are playing in a New Year's Six bowl, even if it's on the 30th. The Peach Bowl is a more prestigious game than the Outback, regardless of the date.

With the current trend, all non playoff games are considered exhibitions. So when and where these contests are played doesn’t  matter the way they use to.

First of all, no bowl is ranked. The teams in most bowls are ranked. In the Outback bowl, Arkansas is ranked (21). Penn State is not ranked. The bowl on the fourth is a minor bowl and has been played on the 4th since its inception.

Talk about systems.....I am so sick and tired of the ill placed love for Tiger Woods. All the national and local sports gushing over his courage coming back from a terrible accident (that by the way and the grace of God there was not a driver coming the other direction) to golf in a made for tv tournment with his son Charlie. They barely mention the winners, John Daly and son winning the tournament. Golf may need Tiger but California highways don't. I know the argument that golf needs Tiger Woods just like Colin Cowturd bellowing college football needs Ohio State and Alabama, don't see it. It just seems money talks and the NCAA, ESPN and all the sports media titans are in control.

Not sure how or what you mean.

Let's remember the favorite quote from Rudy

"There are worse tragedies in the world "

"There are worse tragedies in the world "

Excellent quote! Now, apply that reasoning to your introductory post.

Ironic that Rudy overcame it and wound up dressing for the game anyway.

You still can't comprehend the beat down SCA took mid season let alone be entitled to rub your nose into this post.

Just find that odd that only one team playing on that day is unranked.

The Outback Bowl routinely has an unranked team in it and is always played on either January 1st or 2nd. It's normal, not odd.

The real thing that is odd Roam, is that he got the quote wrong. "So you didn't make the dress list, there are greater tragedies in the world" NOT worse tragedies in the world!

Lake you just said it all buddy...It's all about the money...And don't think for one second ESPN isn't in control of this thing...If you think otherwise just look at the quote from the group of university presidents and AD's that are meeting to change the current system to expand the playoffs...One of the major points mentioned was to expand the networks involved so that one network doesn't have a monopoly on the coverage...What does that tell you? If they are concerned enough to want to break up ESPN's monopoly then we all should have enough common sense to figure out what is going on here...If you people think for one second that ESPN isn't pushing their business partners along for their financial benefit then I got a bridge up here in Brooklyn for sale...Sorry but Georgia had no business being in this tournament...PERIOD...
