@rip what if we play Clifford and lose a game or two??

They way I see it why not prepare for next season?? DA has burned his redshirt this year which means if he lives up to his billing he'll be gone in two years. I'd rather take my chances on the future then settle for 3rd place and go to a bowl where our opponent's seniors have opted out and we're basically playing a scrimmage.

If Cliff ain't getting it done, like I said before, pull him and put in Allar to save he day!  If Cliff is getting er done, Allar goes into next year as the perceived salvation of the program without ever having lost a game.  If he lives up to his billing and is gone after 2 years, so be it.  If he flops, we'll all be wishing he would go like many wished Cliff would have done.  Just my 2 cents, lol.

The year was 1967.  A young 2nd year coach was on the verge of not only a losing season but losing his team as well.  They traveled down to Miami where his team was the dog...cant remember by how much.  He sent his senior laden defense out onto the field except for one position, where he sent a sophomore (Freshmen werent allowed to play back then) to fill that position.  The sly coach slowly pulled his seniors and one by one replaced them with his Sophs. By the beginning of the 2nd quarter his entire senior defense was on the sidelines watch the sophomores shut down Miami's high powered offense.  They did score a TD in the closing minutes of the game as I recall.

The coach was none other than Joe Paterno and that sophomore class was the core of the great 68-69 teams that would go on to be undefeated for two straight seasons.

Franklin may want to swallow his pride and learn something from his predecessor.

Play the freshman.

@tsuga But your example is basically a group of kids who sat for a year until they were ready. Which is all anyone has said about Allar?

I don't care at this point either way, but if it was me I don't think I would play him. I think there is value in him continuing to learn and get in a full year+ in the weight room so his body is ready for the physical pounding he will take. Just my thought.

Also mentally I think there is a big difference between a freshman RB starting, and a freshman QB. Again, just my take

We’ve lost 2 games to 2 top 5 teams and look at the teams they have ranked in front of us with 2 losses. This is exactly why we need to finish out 11-2 to get respect back. Going out and dropping games to any of the 4 teams left on the schedule for the regular season would just set us back. Sometimes to get in the playoffs you get in just cause of respect..Alabama and Ohio St are examples so imo this is why we have to finish this season on a high note to try and get respect back. I’m not saying we should be respected because of the last 2 years what I’m saying is we gotta get it back especially when opinions matter on who gets in the playoffs. Utah and Kansas St smh

Why is Clemson ranked ahead of Michigan? They get the benefit of the doubt I guess. Finish 6th in the polls this year and respect will come .

@southern-psu-fan Because they are looking at wins, not just losses. We have 0 wins over top 5 teams and LSU beat #11, Utah beat #9, and Kansas State shut out #18 48-0.

Not sure why you think being ranked in the top 15 with no wins against ranked teams in disrespectful... Especially when we were not just beaten, but curb stomped by UM.

@roaminglion  what about Oregon they got curbed stomped by Georgia and i was also looking at who beat who. LSU barely gets by Auburn and we curb stomped’em at Auburn. This has been my point, get the 6th place finish this year and show people we ain’t that bad we’re actually pretty dang good we just aren’t top 5 and we’re just a QB away.none of those teams ranked after 6th can beat us. This is what makes it fun though lol
