...and many said he was over the hill, needed to go, and wasn't adapting to the modern game.
They pushed him to modernize his offense, to change with the times... and he listed by bringing in more mobile, dual threat QBs. He went out and hired Galen Hall as OC, and low and behold Penn State returned to it's winning ways in 2005.
Penn State got back to winning because many actually told Paterno he needed to change, they didn't just say "TRUST" and blow sunshine up his azz.
Joe even sent his assistant coaches down to Texas to learn their offense if I remember correctly. That’s one thing that made joe such a great coach he was able to change with the times and he didn’t have so much pride to think he was just better than everybody else. He had double digit wins through 5 decades because he did change. I’ve always pulled for Mack Brown because he did let joe send his coaches down to Texas that’s just cool IMO. And it worked because look at what happened from 05-2011 3 more 11 win seasons 4 more bowl wins and we we 8-1 when all the BS and lies hit the fan.
