I was just thinking, since the transfer portal is currently open, can a player, who say is a star at PSU, enter the portal and get an offer from, say Alabama, accept the offer, transfer and play in the upcoming playoff game against Meatchicken? In other words, if a player enters the portal for the first time and then transfers to a different school, is he elligible to play immediately this bowl season? I have all my Christmas decorating done so I guess I just have too much time on my hands, lol.
I’d bet there’s a rule that stops that from happening.
if there ain’t we need to find a WR and DE and get ‘em in here bk and help win this Peach Bowl lol

Chop opted out because he knows DDS is behind him on the depth chart and is more than capable of wreaking havoc on a middling SEC school.
DDS is also a future 1st round draft pick and it’s his time to shine.
No they can't because they are committing to the school for the next season, not this season. Weirdly enough, if a kid entered the portal from Penn State and signed with Alabama, they could still play in OUR bowl game because they are technically on this year's roster unless the coach removes them.I was just thinking, since the transfer portal is currently open, can a player, who say is a star at PSU, enter the portal and get an offer from, say Alabama, accept the offer, transfer and play in the upcoming playoff game against Meatchicken? no problem! I do think there is an exception to players on teams where a coach gets fired during the year. I believe some kids from Michigan State transferred when the crap hit the fan there and played right awayThanks Roam. Like it is said, "An idle mind is the devil's workshop". LOL
@roaminglion I think it would be better for college football if you get one transfer without having to sit with absolutely no exceptions that way ain’t no gray area and everybody playing by the same rules. IMO it will make these kids think long and hard on decision making. One time…period
