@lakerie. I thought they took the top 4 teams regardless of anything else?
It would be beyond ridiculous to take a team that played 5 games total.
And it isn't the next two, it is one of the next two. Michigan State game is very much in doubt so if it's cancelled tOSU is out of the Championship. They need to play at least 6 games to participate, and would have only played 5.

This is exactly why I didn't care about this year. OSU possibly plays 5 games and gets to go play in the CFP? JOKE.
@southern-psu-fan How could you be a top 4 team if you didn't play the required amount of games, I'm pretty sure they laid down guidelines on the minimum amount of game to be eligible for the play off.
If I heard it right I thought they said since the games played was cut short this year you can make a bowl at 4 wins so I was assuming if you’re 4-0 and ranked in the top 4 you’re in the playoffs? I’m just assuming I’m not sure how it works
I believe you're right Southern. I don't think there are any minimum # of games required to qualify for the NC playoff.
My issue with what happened was he always told people he was a football expert and we should listen to him, but when talking about COVID he completely dismissed experts and said they didn't know anything or were lying. I guess that's the part of it that bothered me most.
It's not like I hate the guy though, I would have talked or argued with him about football stuff if he was still here. Lots of people in my lifetime have done things that I disagreed with or found distasteful, and me to them as well... doesn't mean we never spoke with each other again or weren't still friends. It happens.
I concur. I also agree with Lake. I met him a time or two during my time at SC and he's a nice enough guy. He does know his stuff about HS football. But all that aside, he made us all out to be imbeciles and fools and when he was proven incorrect; he didnt have the balls to stand up and admit he was wrong. So basically, he took his ball and went home. For all of you on facebook, he's on there frequently spewing the same song and dance he did on here.
As far as him coming back; I'd rather see him back then the queen troll that turns up when we have a losing season. The election is over so maybe Murray will show up again. Who knows??
@southern-psu-fan: we're going to soon need a calculator and a chart to keep track of all the a-holes on here!!!
@lakerie I believe you and I heard the same thing during the PSU/Mich game, OSU has to play a minimal amount of games to qualify for the B1G Championship and the announcers were pushing the "eye test" again, as in How can you qualify for the BCS, if you can't even qualify for your own conference championship? lol But give 'em(BCS) a chance, they'll figure out how to do it.
Southern, you are correct that the playoff committee has no minimum requirement, but the Big Ten does. They made it 6 games.
IMO the playoff committee would look like an absolute joke if they took three teams that played over 10 games an then a team that played only 5 (who also didn't even play a conference championship). Also, over teams that went undefeated like BYU and Cincinnati.
Not only that, but a team who beat Indiana. That's their big win. LMAO.
It would be admitting the system is completely rigged.
@roaminglion. I agree with you but I’m telling ya they’ll take Ohio st over BYU and Cincinnati and won’t even hesitate about it. They’ll use the excuse we take the top 4 teams regardless if they win their conference or not. They ain’t going to let teams like Cincinnati and BYU run off with all that money 💰
The savior for Ohio state is that if the average number of played games fall below 6, then the number of games required to be played to get in to the B10 championship games goes down accordingly. There ya go, Ohio state is getting into the Big championship one way or the other.
Roam, I don't think the scam committee really cares about what anybody thinks. They just do their own thing & make up silly justifications as they go along their merry way, lol.

Doubtful that happens, the conference needs 6 games to be played in the next 2 weeks to average 6 games per team. That's it. It would take over a week's worth of games being cancelled.
So basically if OSU's game is cancelled this week and all the other games are played, it would be impossible. If the Big Ten wants OSU in, they have hope the OSU game can be played or cancel another game this week along with OSU's. Then just say week 8 is cancelled altogether.

My apologies, 12 games need to be played. The article I read was wrong, or at least phrased it wrong. 6 games per week need to be played, not 6 games total.
So you're right psu61, if OSU is cancelled this week they'd only need to cancel 2 other games to fall below that threshold.
@southern-psu-fan Southern I "thought" I heard no minimum for bowl games. I said thought not positive.
I have been saying for years that this is a sham and I never watch it because it's a sham. I love it...The "EYE TEST"...It's a beauty pageant not a sporting event..The bottom line is it's all about money...ESPN runs the show and they are in bed with the SEC and the ACC so those 2 sacred cow conferences get the benefits of the doubt...Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Michigan also get the special treatment...Every other team or conference gets screwed year after year...you gotta love the ole friggin "EYE TEST"...It's like they are picking out the best hooker for the night...Game results and records mean nothing...They have their 4 or 5 teams they want in and everybody else gets the shaft...It's a farce and a joke...

FD OLD BUDDY OLD PAL! I agree 100 percent!

@the-funeral-director. FD I feel the same way about it except I call it a scam instead of sham lol. FD how did you like that butt kicking we put on Michigan? 😁
@the-funeral-director should’ve punched another TD in instead of taking a knee 😁
I am always pleased to beat Michigan and especially to drill that phony Harbaugh...Hopefully this is the spark to turn this thing around so they finish the year on a good note. This is very important for them going into recruiting...
Yes FD...beating Michigan is like Christmas morning. Beating Ohio State is like that, my birthday and St. Patrick's day all in one, and I almost forgot, and a year for free beer. What the heck, throw some collard greens in there in honor of our good bud Southern.

You know the Big Ten will have teams that OSU didn't get to play, to issue forfeits for those games, just so the win total for OSU will climb higher to meet those requirements.
Back to the topic fellas, I have mixed feelings on changing any coaches this off-season. I think Pry’s defense has gotten better over the course of the season, but it was directly proportional to the competition being weaker. If Franklin was to replace Pry, I would love to see a proven DC or highly regarded defensive coach hired. No up and comers. PSU would need an instant success guy. Muschamp made his career as a defensive coach. I’d take him as DC. Bud Foster? Both guys are unemployed at the moment. It would be a long shot, but I’d offer LJ the DC, Assistant HC position. He’s never had the reigns as a DC, but is more than qualified for the job. PSU would have to pony up the money to steal him from OSU though. He is the best DL coach in the country and losing him to OSU has hurt badly.
I've read that money to assistant coaches is part of Franklin's problem. I think Pry is the highest pade Asst coach at something like $600,000. Compare that to Alabama where the highest paid is over a milliion. I wonder how much Larry Johnson makes at OSU not that I wish him back.
